👋 Meet Katie Yelaska
Katie is the Graduate Assistant for Student Leadership for the Office of Housing and Residence Life. She oversees and advises the Residence Hall Association, the Student Action Team AND the National Residence Hall Honorary! 🤩
This is Katie’s second year with Ball State Housing, but she became involved in HRL during her undergrad at Millikin University. There, she spent time as a Resident Assistant and as a campus leader. When she looked into pursuing Graduate school, she knew she wanted to carry over her passion for housing, but this time, on Ball State’s campus!
One of Katie’s favorite things about HRL is having the opportunity to work one-on-one with students. Her role has allowed her to help guide students personally and professionally and uncover and maximize their strengths to see students become the best versions of themselves. Katie says, “Being a part of this process has been meaningful to me and taught me so much.”
Katie says her first group of student org executive board members holds a special place in her heart. She says one of her favorite memories is them welcoming her to campus for the first time. “The orgs had taken the time to make me door decs, bring me cookies and give me an official tour so I would stop getting lost! I have loved every minute since, and I’m so grateful to be a part of HRL.”
