🎉 It’s National Student Employment Week, and we’ve got some BIG reasons to celebrate at the Rinker Center! 🎉

Congratulations to Alicia Miller, PhD for being named Student Employment Supervisor of the Year — for the second year in a row! Her dedication to our student employees is unmatched, and we’re thrilled to see her recognized again.

This also marks the third win for the Rinker Center, following Dee Staten’s amazing recognition in 2023!

We’re also incredibly proud of Martina Schiavo and Danielle Henson, who were both nominated for Graduate Assistant of the Year, and Alex Merrion, who was nominated for undergraduate student employee of the year. Their passion and commitment make a lasting impact every day.

We’re so lucky to work with such an outstanding team. Help us celebrate their well-deserved recognition!

🎉Congratulations to Femi Folorunsho on being named the 2025 recipient of the 2025 Top 1 Outstanding Research Award by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA)! The recognition is for his paper “Reimagining Futures and Challenging Norms: A Critical Analysis of Afrofuturism, Gender Dynamics, and Aesthetic Representation in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

He states, “In this paper, I explored the cultural, aesthetic, and narrative dimensions of the 2022 Marvel film, using the lenses of Afrofuturism, gender representation, and visual storytelling. It means a lot to see this work acknowledged by one of the leading academic and professional associations for media educators and practitioners in the U.S.”
