Dear SAAHE Community:
For three years it has been an honor to serve as the Director of the SAAHE Program getting the opportunity to work with, learn from, and support so many outstanding developing higher education and student affairs professionals at Ball State. Leading the SAAHE Program has been a joyous and rewarding experience as I’ve been able to work with some of the most dedicated, compassionate, and generous leaders I’ve come across. In particular, I am proud of our students who’ve graduated in 2020, 2021, and 2022 as they’ve contended and persisted through much they didn’t anticipate.
Thus, it is bittersweet that I’m writing to share news that I will be transitioning to a new role at Ball State as Interim Associate Dean of the Graduate School. While I will miss working with the  SAAHE program, I’m excited to serve many more graduate students at the University.
To our alumni who have given their time as mentors in the alumni mentoring program, shared opportunities about jobs, practica, and internships, and shared resources and funding to support the program, I appreciate you and hope your support will continue!
I’m excited to share that beginning July 1, 2022, Dr. Amanda O. Latz will serve as the interim SAAHE Program Director. She has been instrumental to the program’s success since 2011 and I know she will lead this esteemed program well as she values equity, mentorship, and building supportive relationships with students and alumni.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve the SAAHE Program!
Dr. Phelps-Ward
