Last week our Director, Michael Gambrel, had the pleasure of talking with central Indiana high school students and their families at the Skilled Trades Majors & Careers Fair at Carmel High School.

While our program does not focus directly on traditional skilled trades, our goal was to introduce students and families to the worlds of Logistics, Operations Management, and Supply Chain: industries they might never have considered before.

The intersection between skilled trades and supply chain is significant and there are countless opportunities. Whether it is managing the complex movement of materials or overseeing high efficiency operations, these students already possess the practical, problem solving mindset that our industry desperately needs. This is just one way we are working to continue advocating for our industry and our industry partners who desperately need these skilled workers.

It was a privilege to discuss the vast career paths available and show how their interests can translate into roles within the global supply chain. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat about the future of the industry.

This month we were excited to begin a new tradition in the Logistics & Supply Chain program in the Ball State University Miller College of Business. We held our inaugural Last Mile Gala. This celebration brought graduating seniors, faculty, staff, and advisory board members together for an evening to enjoy food, drink, and reflection on the last four years of their journey. With their upcoming graduation, each senior completed their Last Mile Walk, coming up to receive the new cords our program has adopted. We also had some special recognition for some students who went above and beyond the rigor of the program.

On-Time In-Full Award Presented to Nico Fragante.
This award recognizes consistent, proactive excellence throughout the capstone, meeting every metric and anticipating challenges before they arose.

Operational Excellence Leader Award Presented to Jason Ho.
For outstanding leadership and academic performance, representing the highest standard of ex*****on in the LSCM program.

Last Mile Leader Award
Presented to Sierra Marvin and Ilo Coar.
In recognition of overall academic excellence and sustained achievement throughout the program.

Global Visibility Award
Presented to Emily Swanson.
For exceptional engagement and leadership within the program. As President of the Association for Supply Chain Management student club, Emily has made a lasting impact on both her peers and this program.

Congratulations to these and all of our seniors as they take the last few steps in their degrees!

Last week our Director, Michael Gambrel, had the privilege of helping out as an evaluator for the Ball State University Student Symposium. It was great to see how our students, no matter the program, are working to innovate and solve real-world problems.

One great example includes the study being conducted by Lucy McGovern and Madison Kasten as they work to improve the breakdown of pollutants by enzymes in soil.

Another was the content stack game demo by Brandon Dean, Alexander Murray, and Ethan Buckner that was built to allow game sales engineers to update game assets, dialogue, and metadata without a project rebuild.

It's incredible to see how Ball State Students Fly!

Huge congratulations to our incredible Ball State Logistics & Supply Chain case competition team, including Nico Fragante, Emily Swanson, and Zach Sutherlin along with their coach Lakshika Kuruppuarachchi, Ph.D., team for their outstanding performance this past Saturday. We are so proud to announce that the team secured third place at the Gregg Sherrill Manufacturing Case Competition, held at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Indianapolis.

Representing Ball State among a field of talented competitors was a challenge, and our students rose to the occasion with professionalism and grit. The team spent the day tackling complex manufacturing and supply chain challenges, and were praised by the judges for their ability to provide the answers and solutions to the questions with a strong knowledge of manufacturing. This podium finish is a direct result of their dedication, long hours of preparation, and the sharp analytical skills they have developed here at Ball State.

It was a fantastic day of competition and networking at the IU Indianapolis campus and a special thank you to Md Shahriar Aziz, PhD for supporting and helping guide the team. We are thrilled to celebrate this win and can’t wait to see what this talented group achieves next. Way to go, Cardinals!

Talk to me goose!

Did you know that you can name goose if you give $20.26 to the Oz Nelson Center? That's right...For a gift of $20.26 or more to the Ball State Fund, you can give one of these campus icons a name—and make a life-changing difference for Ball State students.

Click here to give (at least $20.26) and select the Oz Nelson Center as the fund. Make sure you put the name of your goose in the comment box on the form!

https://oneballstate.bsu.edu/giving-day/111892/donate?dept=111921

The Perks of the Patron
When you name a goose, you’ll receive an exclusive digital certificate recognizing your generosity. Display it with pride, share it on social media, or keep it as a one-of-a-kind BSU keepsake. Your support lives on in the legacy of our campus.

Want even more "feathered power"? Gifts of $20.26 or more grant you the unofficial authority to point at any goose on campus and address it by its new name. It’s a Ball State rite of passage!

Real Support for Real Cardinals
While this naming opportunity is symbolic, your impact is very real. Your contribution directly supports the Ball State Fund to provide essential support the University's top priority projects and programs.

The "Fine Print" for Our Gaggle:
Choose Wisely: To keep our community thriving, all names are vetted for respect and school spirit. Silly puns are welcome, but inappropriate names will be sent back to the nest!
The "Night Watch": Our digital team rests at night. If you make your gift after 7:00 p.m., your personalized digital certificate will arrive in your inbox the following morning.
Symbolic Connection: We don't put luggage tags on the geese (they prefer to travel light), so your naming right is a symbolic gesture of your BSU pride.

Don’t wait—the geese are waiting for their names!
