We were honored to participate in this special 100th anniversary celebration.

Thank you to Ball State University student Maggie Hibbetts for designing the exclusive Ball family/Ball stores fashion collection, and to Indiana University School of Medicine student Erich Ong and Ball State University student Jesse Saunders for leading guest tours throughout the event.

We were grateful to celebrate this milestone with the Ball Brothers Foundation and alongside such talented students and valued community partners.

Although summer has officially begun and most students are on break, we are actively preparing our building for a series of upgrades designed to enhance our living-learning community. Throughout the summer, facilities staff and contractors will be completing several improvement projects, including upgrading corridor lighting as well as lighting in the multipurpose room and business center, replacing blinds and blackout shades, repaving the parking lot, and developing a new student learning space and conference room. These projects will be finalized and ready for student use in the near future.

Ball State University President Geoffrey Mearns recently highlighted the Optimus Primary initiative during an episode of the monthly news program Cardinal Compass.
Jud Fisher, President of the Ball Brothers Foundation, joined President Mearns, along with students from Ball State University and the Indiana University School of Medicine, to discuss the initiative, as well as their involvement and perspectives. The conversation placed particular emphasis on immersive learning opportunities and the living-learning experience at Maplewood Guest House.

"Optimus Primary" is a collaborative initiative designed to help healthcare professionals live and work in East Central Indiana. And with funding from the Ba...

Throwback Thursday
Take a step back into Muncie’s rich history!
William and Emma Ball, the original owners of Maplewood, are pictured here enjoying a quiet moment in their living room. These historic photos, courtesy of the Delaware County Historical Society, offer a rare glimpse into the lives of the family who helped shape our community.

We at Maplewood wish you a happy and warm spring break! See you next week.

Kreigh Cook, Chief Operating Officer at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, visited our facility last week alongside Jud Fisher, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ball Brothers Foundation, and Vice President Jenna Wachtmann for a tour of our building.
We appreciated the opportunity to speak with Mr. Cook about the many ways we are engaging Ball State University immersive learning students and Indiana University School of Medicine students living here during their clerkships in Muncie.

Students in HOSP 250: Lodging Management, under the direction of Professor Kwang-Ho Lee, are partnering with Maplewood Guest House Manager David Martin over the next several semesters to develop and implement curated storytelling content throughout the property.
This collaborative project will highlight the legacy of the Ball Brothers and Sisters, the rich history of Maplewood, and significant moments in Muncie’s past. Through the thoughtful integration of modern technology that complements the home’s historic interior—as well as the addition of archival photographs and historical imagery in public spaces—the team aims to create a more immersive and engaging guest experience.
We look forward to the creativity and innovation these students will bring to Maplewood and are excited to see the continued progress of this and future classes.
