Ball State University's Student Legal Services Ball State's Student Legal Services provides free and confidential counsel to currently enrolled stu to 5 p.m. during the academic year and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Services:

Counseling - helping a student client understand the nature of an individual legal problem; explaining its implications; discussing the meaning of applicable laws; and assisting the student in resolving the problem. Referral - identifying when the seriousness or complexity of a student's legal problem requires representation by a private attorney, and aiding the student in making an

informed selection of a lawyer. Preventative Education - informing students of their legal rights so that they will be better equipped to avoid legal problems. Legal Resource Center - serving as a resource center for students who have legal questions or who need legal information. To make an appointment:

Students may stop by Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. during the summer. To schedule an appointment with the attorney, you must bring your student ID to the Student Legal Services office in Pittenger Student Center, room L-17. Accordingly, the initial appointment cannot be made by telephone, nor can legal advice be given over the phone prior to your appointment.



**Student Legal Services (SLS) cannot undertake to formally represent students in legal matters; we do not litigate in court on behalf of students.**
