Drs. Rachel Davis, Ugur Orak and grad student Casey Fowler from the MTSU Sociology program presented their research at the Southern Sociological Society 2024 Annual Meeting. Dr.Orak & Casey Fowler’s research was "An analysis of the relationship between work-related stressors and criminal behavior." Dr. Davis’ presentation was titled "Financed femininity: Sugar babies, spoiled girlfriends, and high-value women on TikTok."

Dr. Ugur Orak’s new article, "Juvenile Violent Victimization and Adult Criminal Outcomes: The Role of Military Service as a Turning Point in Young Adulthood," has been published by the Journal of Interpersonal Violence. Other than Dr. Orak, Christine Soileau (a former Sociology graduate student), Jessica Harter (an MTSU Psychology undergraduate student), Claire Dobson (an MTSU sociology undergraduate student), and Dr. Meredith Dye co-authored this paper. Dr. Ugur Orak’s research brief has been published by the Council on Criminal Justice. He examined the individual-level, service-related, and post-service risk factors associated with criminal justice involvement among veterans. You can read his brief at the link below. Congratulations, Dr. Orak!
