Hello everyone!

As the semester is quickly coming to a close, AGSH is having one of its final events! The Cemetery Preservation Workshop is in partnership with Dr. Graham of the Center for Historic Preservation and the African American Heritage Society of Rutherford County. The workshop will consist of two parts, the first taking place at the Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County followed by a lunch break. Then we head over to begin the second half of the workshop at Evergreen Graveyard! We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email Taylor Means at [email protected]. Also, to stay up to date on all of our activities and campus/history department announcements, please follow up on Instagram at: or Facebook at: Association of Graduate Students in History at MTSU!

Way to go, Terrence!

***Student Highlight***

Meet Terrence Cormier!

Terrence is in his final semester here at MTSU History. His research area of interest is African American studies and the Vietnam War era. He is currently a full-time Social Studies instructor at Antioch High School and has been teaching at the high school level for 14 years. He is also serving as an adjunct professor of early U.S. history at Columbia State Community College. One of his highlights of being in the Masters program was getting an article published in the Southern Historian Journal. The article is entitled "The Franklin City Square: A Case Study."

Terrence would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Sousa, his advisor; Dr. Pruitt, who encouraged him to get his work published; and his mentor of more than 10 years, Dr. Arthur Verge.

We are are so proud of you Terrence! Happy final semester!
