Two Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) students have been selected for highly competitive, National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded summer research programs.

🦾 Dalyn Wachala, a engineering major, will participate in a robotics-focused program at West Virginia University.

🧪 Zahraa Al Rubaye, a major and Honors student, will conduct research through Auburn University’s CASE program.

These Research Experiences for Undergraduates provide hands-on opportunities to work alongside leading faculty mentors while preparing students for graduate school and careers in STEM.

Wachala said he was “incredibly happy and grateful” for the opportunity, while Al Rubaye looks forward to building her research skills and contributing to new discoveries.

“These students represent the very best of MTSU’s growing undergraduate research community,” said Dr. Jamie Burriss, director of the Undergraduate Research Center at MTSU.

We were honored to host Dr. Joan McRae for her fascinating presentation, “Lafayette in the American and French Revolutions.”

From his bold decision to cross the Atlantic at 19, to his deep friendship with George Washington, to his complicated role in the French Revolution, the Marquis de Lafayette lived one of the most extraordinary lives of the 18th century.
