On Tuesday, College of Education graduate student RJ Ware was appointed to the MTSU Board as the new Student Trustee. Congrats RJ!! You will represent MTSU students well!

Mr. Ware, a former MTSU Student Government Association President is pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching from the COE. He graduated in May with his Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the MTSU Department of Political and Global Affairs.

Also, a shout out to out going student trustee, College of Education grad student Michai Mosby! He has served the MTSU Board and students well!

Did you know a mother and daughter both received MTSU College of Education degrees side by side at last month's graduation ceremony?

Dr. Ayana Samuel earned her Doctorate of Education in Assessment, Learning and Student Success while also teaching special education full time in Murfreesboro City Schools!

Her daughter Autumn completed her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and will enter her first year in the classroom as a 4th grade teacher at Barfield Elementary this fall. TRUE !

Recently 2X College of Education alum Dr. Bill Toungette was named Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary Principals (NASSP)!

Toungette was selected by the NASSP for providing students with high-quality learning opportunities and demonstrating exemplary contributions to the profession. He is AP at Woodland Middle in Williamson County Schools

Earlier this month the Ann Campbell Early Learning Center here in the College of Education hosted its Preschool Graduation Ceremony. These kiddos are ready for kindergarten!

ACE serves as a training site for more than 200 college students each year, offering hands-on in-classroom training, observation opportunities, internships, and employment. These students support young learners by working in classrooms, interacting, playing alongside, and supporting the children.

ACE is the very best place for children.

The MTSU College of Education wishes Mr. Robert White, Vice President, Community Relations & Member Services at Middle Tennessee Electric, good luck in his retirement!

Mr. White was integral in the partnership between MTE and the College of Education that created the MTE Spark Awards for future teachers setting up their first classrooms! White’s wife is a retired educator, so they’ve seen firsthand the financial burden properly equipping a first classroom can cause for recent college grads. The award was named Spark because the awards help “ignite” teachers’ careers.

White said of the first awards given in Fall 2024, “On behalf of Middle Tennessee Electric, our president and CEO, Chris Jones, our board of directors and the over 540 teammates of mine, we just want you to know that our purpose is to make the lives of our neighbors better. We believe these Spark Awards is a way to do that for educators in our community."

Thank you Mr. White for always supporting this community and happy retirement!

Y'all give a shout out to Cameron who's winning design is on this summer's new student t-shirt that all incoming College of Education undergrads get at New to Blue Orientation!

Cameron graduated in May earning her degree in Art Education with a Minor in Secondary Education. She will be leading an Art classroom of her own very soon! Thanks for this great design Cameron!
