Workshop opportunity
Dear WKCA Members and other counselors,
A Spring Retreat is being planned for March 20 and 21 for our counselors. Our Vice President, Quinn Lambert, will be discussing working with families and individuals dealing with grief. This is a specialty of Quinn’s and a focus in his current position. Dr. Brie LaJarret. who has trained and worked in the psychiatric unit at Vanderbilt Hospital and John’s Hopkins, will discuss working with various counseling services and Integrated Care Counseling to meet client and student needs. Ms. LaJarret, a Psyciatric Nurse Practitioner currently teaching at Murray State University, has a military background and will also discuss working with military families. In addition, we will hear from KCA leaders, Jonathan Durr and Helen Benningfield, about KCA supports for our area. Dr. John Rigney, former member of the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, and Angelia Bryant will be doing the required training of Law and Ethics for LPCCs. We will be offering this retreat for counselors in an area lake resort ( not determined as yet). We need an approximate number of those interested in attending these trainings in order to plan meeting space and food. If you think you might like to attend one or both days, please just respond to me with a “yes”. CEUs and EILAs will be offered. A final letter will be sent in February to register to attend. It’s important to have an approximate number of attendees so that we can finalize location and food decisions. Please call me at 270-759-1087 if you have questions. Thanks for your help.
Jan Stogner,
President WKCA
