Have you ever wondered how God is going to make something happen? The prophet Elijah may have thought the same thing when the Lord commanded him to go to the Wadi Cherith in 1 Kings 17:5-16. Elijah moved in obedience without any means of providing for his basic needs. However, God can do what we cannot do for ourselves. God not only provided what Elijah needed when he needed it, but He also provided in ways that only God could do. That same provision is extended to us today. Our provisions may fall short, but God is always in full supply.

There was nothing particularly special about Mary other than that God chose her to carry the Messiah and knew she would join Him in this miracle. God chooses ordinary people to join Him in His work. His plans aren’t hampered by our lack of understanding. Mary only had to say “yes” in obedience to His plan.

Today we look at the story of Mary and God's plan in bringing Jesus into the world through this young woman highly favored by God!

Last week we discussed when our faith falls short in our series "Limited Resources - Limitless God" This week we look to Paul to see what we do when our circumstances fall short.

Trying to do things in our own power, especially in hard times, is like trying to make our way through a jungle with nothing but a stick. No matter how sturdy the stick is, it will always break. Paul endured some troubles and sought to comfort his readers who suffered similarly due to their circumstances. God’s grace is sufficient to sustain us, and His strength will help us endure any circumstance.

Lesson 1 – "When Your Faith Falls Short"

The disciples’ inability to cast out the demon in Matthew 17:16 wasn’t due to a lack of Jesus’s power or authority; the disciples relied on themselves rather than Jesus. And when the disciples couldn’t cast out the demon because they weren’t relying on Jesus, they likely began to feel confused. The crowd that gathered was probably also confused. Our doubt doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It affects those around us. It’s the presence of faith that matters, not the amount.
