What were the Murray State Biology faculty and students up to this summer? Dr. Ingrid Jordon-Thadenās lab had a great summer! Dr. J.T. mentored her student through their research while continuing to set up her lab and develop new protocols. She also organized a symposium at the Future Proofing Herbaria meeting. Ash McCarty continued research on seed dispersal by deer at CRNWF, along with DNA barcoding lab work. Noah Garland worked on the systematics of an alpine species complex from the Rocky Mountains, using both herbarium specimens and field-collected material housed here at the Murray State Herbarium. Joshuwa Strode, Dr. J.T.ās masterās student, worked on collecting population-level samples and conducting genetics research on the rare endemic Appalachian mustard, the rock twist. Noah, Joshuwa, and Dr. J.T. also attended the Botany 2026 meeting in July, where they presented their research!
