🔬 Project Highlight: Northwest Shoals Community College Lab Upgrade 🧫
Thanks to legislator support and Northwest RC&D grant funding, Northwest Shoals Community College was able to upgrade the Microbiology lab with modern, non-porous, easily wipeable lab stools—a critical improvement for student safety and lab hygiene.
In microbiology, students work with Level 1 microorganisms like E. coli and Staph. aureus, so it's essential that all lab surfaces can be thoroughly sanitized. The previous fabric-upholstered stools made proper cleaning difficult and posed a risk for contamination.
These new stools help the college maintain lab safety standards, reduce the risk of spreading microorganisms, and provide a more professional and practical learning environment for students preparing for careers in healthcare and science.
