Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Hackley and Hume Historic Site MSU event!
And a special thank you to Erin Schmitz, Museum Director, and Leslie McRoberts, Head of Special Collections and University Archives, for speaking at the event and making a huge announcement!
Since 1974, the Hackley-Hume archives have been housed at Michigan State to preserve the documents. The collection includes 66 volumes of ledgers, letters, maps, deeds, photographs, and business records (1870–1946) documenting the lives and lumber operation of Charles H. Hackley and Thomas Hume.
On Monday, after 52 years, the archives were delivered to a secure museum site and are once again in Muskegon! This will enhance the ability of the Museum to research the rich history of the Hackley Hume families.
