🌟Student Spotlight🌟
Janaya McIntosh from the Muscogee Nation wears the crown of Miss Indian Oklahoma along with keeping up with studies, internships, working, preparing for the national Praxis exam, and the many responsibilities that come with her title. She was recently awarded the Graduate Native Scholar and the American Indian Merit Award from the Center for Tribal Studies at NSU. She is a Project DREAM scholar which allowed her to present research at Oklahoma Research Day in Tahlequah and the 2026 American Indian Symposium, and contributed to her selection as one of the top 10 graduate students for NSU! After graduation in May, she plans to work with children in her community but wants to pursue a doctorate. She is an amazing advocate for her tribe and so many of the youth look up to her. The sky is the limit for Janaya!! We are so proud of you!!

NSU health profession’s students spend time engaged in inter-professional education (IPE). Patients benefit from specialized care which includes collaboration by professionals from multiple disciplines. This semester, SLP students have worked with OT students to develop a plan for a stroke patient. Additionally, PA, OT, and SLP students worked in groups to teach each other a specific skill such as evaluating a fall risk.
