💗 We showed up. We stepped out. We made strides for a cause that matters! 💗

Today, the Rockland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly joined community members at Rockland Lake for the 5th Annual Rides & Strides Breast Cancer Fundraiser, benefiting Montefiore Nyack Hospital’s Breast Center.

Dressed in our pink and red, we walked with purpose, shared plenty of smiles and stood in solidarity with breast cancer survivors, fighters and the families who have been impacted by this disease.

For us, today was about more than getting our steps in. It was about showing up for our community, raising awareness and reinforcing the importance of early detection, education and access to quality breast health care.

Every step represented hope. Every conversation helped build awareness. And every person who showed up reminded us of the power of community. 💕

We extend our appreciation to the event organizers, participants and supporters who helped make today’s event meaningful.

Because when we move together, we make a difference.

From fighting food insecurity to advancing health and wellness and encouraging civic engagement, the Rockland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. remains committed to making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.

And our impact speaks for itself!

❤️ Fighting Hunger: Our chapter has proudly supported the distribution of more than 300,000 pounds of food through the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center in Spring Valley, helping put food on the tables of families throughout our community.

❤️ Advancing Health & Wellness: From distributing 500 menstrual products to help combat period poverty to hosting yoga classes and participating in breast cancer awareness walks, we’re committed to supporting the physical and emotional well-being of our community.

❤️ Strengthening Civic Engagement: Through voter registration initiatives, voter education and community advocacy, we continue to empower residents to use their voices and participate in the decisions that shape our future.

And that’s just a glimpse of the work!

Behind every initiative are dedicated women who believe that service is more than an activity. It’s a responsibility, a commitment and a legacy.

We show up. We do the work. And we keep going!

For the Rockland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., service isn’t just something we talk about. It’s what we DO!

Alongside the NR-WP Kappas, our sorors continue to put that commitment into action through ongoing food distribution efforts at the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center in Spring Valley, NY.

And this week, that work received some well-deserved attention! We’re excited to celebrate Optimum’s $1,500 donation to the MLK Center, helping support its continued efforts to serve families throughout our community.

A special thank you to Soror Deb Santos and her leadership team at Optimum for not only investing in our community but also showing up, rolling up their sleeves and lending a helping hand. Your presence and willingness to serve alongside us made this moment even more meaningful.

We’re also grateful to our brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi for their continued partnership, the dedicated volunteers who make this work possible and News 12 New York for shining a light on these collective efforts.

Today, we recognize World Mental Health Day 💚. Awareness, education, and removing the social stigma helps us discover better ways to navigate our lived experiences.

Delta Sigma Theta is committed to working within our communties to mitigate mental health crises and provide the tools and resources neccessary for the unique support that many are in need of. We thank our National Physical and Mental Health Subcommittee for leading the charge toward a world that prioritizes the mental well-being of all people.
