Consortium for Ocean Science Exploration and Engagement - COSEE

Consortium for Ocean Science Exploration and Engagement - COSEE The COSEE Global Office is located at the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography.

COSEE is transitioning to an independent consortium, the Consortium for Ocean Science Exploration and Engagement, and to a new funding model. The Consortium will operate on a dues-based membership model. COSEE Consortium Membership Benefits:

-Access to consortium dissemination vehicles (e-mail listserv, member newsletter, social media)

-Opportunities to partner with consortium members in activit

ies and proposal development through targeted Consortium workshops and meetings

-Staying current with advancements and effective practices in ocean sciences education through Consortium workshops and meetings

-Reduced registration fees for Consortium workshops

-Institution’s name and website link on the COSEE website

-A seat on the Governing Council (or for individual membership, opportunity to run for an "at large" seat on the Governing Council)

-Opportunity to join Consortium working groups

-Opportunity to network with individuals and institutions that share similar goals through monthly teleconferences

Registration Now Open: International Ocean Literacy Conference, Dec 4-5 Venice, Italy

International Conference “Ocean Literacy for All”
Palazzo Zorzi, Venice (Italy). 4-5 December 2017

The conference will be hosted by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, with the financial support of the Swedish Ministry of the Environment and Energy. It will be honoured to have the presence of Gesine Meissner, Member of the European Parliament; Peter Thomson, UN Special Envoy for the Ocean (tbc), Barbara Degani, Vice-Minister of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea of Italy (tbc) and, Francesca von Habsburg, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary. Other personalities still need to confirm their attendance at this time.
The conference will discuss topics covered by the UNESCO Ocean Literacy for All voluntary commitment to the June 2017 UN Ocean Conference; develop an Ocean Literacy for All road map for the next 3 years, in preparation for the next UN Ocean Conference; and, debate ways and means by which the Ocean Literacy for All initiative will best support the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 14 and develop in tune with the proposed International Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) - the ocean we need for the future we want http://bit.ly/2ifAsSr , a voluntary commitment by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission
