Ecology students in Shanna Demers's class put their newly acquired knowledge of invasive plant species to work last week. Guest lecturer, Jeremy Fontaine shared his expertise on invasive species and his connections with the Nashua Conservation Commission so we could all make a difference at Joyce Park Wildlife Sanctuary in downtown Nashua.
Way to go Rivier University Raiders!
Rivier University’s Professor Shanna Demers’ Ecology class visited Nashua’s Joyce Park Wildlife Refuge November 8th to help with cutting and removal of invasive plant species. Guest lecturer Jeremy Fontaine gave an in-class presentation prior to the visit. Students put their in-class learning to work identifying and removing Oriental Bittersweet and Japanese Barberry from the sanctuary. Students also collected and removed trash from the site. The Nashua Conservation Commission appreciates Rivier University’s help with this maintenance.
