Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Delta Omega Chapter Alpha Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was organized on October 9, 1927. Martin Emerald Ball.

The charter was signed by National President, Pauline Puryear, in December, 1927. As a result of the 1927 Boule ruling, graduates and undergraduates had to be separated as chapters. Alpha Delta Omega was separated from Pi Chapter of Fisk University. Today, the Chapter boasts over 300 members and own their own sorority house, The Ivy Center of Nashville. The Ivy Center of Nashville was built and th

e mortgage was burned after five (5) years. The Chapter's meetings are held at the house but the building also serves the community as a place to host social activities. The Ivy Center of Nashville Foundation serves as the charitable arm of the sorority. The Foundation sponsors the fundraising activities such as the Biennial Precious Pearls Cotillion and more recently, the Johnella H. The Cotillion provides scholarships and the Emerald Ball provided support for the Sickle Cell Program at Meharry Medical College. Many other activities are a part of the Chapter's mission of "service to all mankind." Charitable contributions:

This Labor Day, the members of Alpha Delta Omega Chapter honor and remember our former chapter member, Sister Vonda McDaniel, a true titan of Tennessee’s organized labor movement who devoted her life to building working-class power.
A proud Nashville native, McGavock High School and Tennessee State University graduate, Sister Vonda’s journey in labor began in 1995 with the United Rubber Workers at the Lavergne Bridgestone Firestone plant. From there, her visionary leadership transformed our community. As President of the Central Labor Council of Nashville and Middle Tennessee (CLC) since 2013, she helped unite more than 40 unions and co-founded impactful organizations like Stand Up Nashville, the Nashville Justice League, Music City Construction Careers (MC3), and Tennessee for All.
Her dedication extended across every corner of public life—serving on the Metropolitan Nashville Convention Center Authority, the Emerge Tennessee board, the AFL-CIO Racial Justice Task Force, and the national AFL-CIO Executive Council.
Though we grieve her passing this past June, we carry forward her fierce commitment to justice, solidarity, and the dignity of all workers. As Tennessee AFL-CIO President Billy Dycus shared, “She always led with her heart and never lost sight of the people she was fighting for.”

✨ Vibes, Bingo, and Sisterhood! 🎶💖💚
What a night! The R&B + Hip Hop Bingo, presented by the Undergraduate Mentoring Committee & Graduate Advisory Committee, turned UP the volume!
Sisters from Alpha Delta Omega, Alpha Psi, and Eta Beta came together to bring the ultimate energy, favorite hits, and best singing voices. From ‘90s R&B classics to iconic Hip Hop anthems, the room stayed electric with non-stop laughter, dancing, and fierce (but sisterly!) competition for those bingo bragging rights.
To kick off the new school year, we wanted our undergraduate sorors to know that—as Bobby Brown would say—every little step they take this semester, we will be right there with them! Beyond the cards, the evening was all about celebrating, mentoring, and deepening the powerful bond between our undergraduate and graduate sorors. Memories were made that will last long after the final card was marked! 💗💚

Alpha Delta Omega proudly celebrates Brianna Johnson on her exciting new role as Project Manager for the new Titan Stadium! This is a remarkable achievement and a true testament to her talent, dedication, and leadership in the field of architecture and construction.

Brianna is an Architectural & Civil Engineer, a licensed General Contractor, and a visionary Real Estate Developer. With a strong foundation in commercial construction, she has successfully led key projects—including site and exterior work on the Nashville Airport’s International Arrivals Facility, a renovation at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, and the Albion in the Gulch apartment complex. Now, she is helping shape a landmark project that will leave a lasting legacy for our community.

Congratulations to our beloved chapter member and beautiful sister, Vanessa Alderson! She has recently been appointed to the City of Columbia, Tennessee Arts Council. She also serves as Education Committee Co-Chair of the Maury County NAACP Branch’s Adopt-A-School Teacher Program.

Initiated into the Alpha Psi Chapter in 1958, Sister Novella is a proud Pearl and Life member with 68 years of continuous, dedicated service, leadership, and sisterhood in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.

Her extraordinary journey of impact and devotion:

✨ Lifetime Educator & Mentor: A native Nashvillian and proud alumna of Tennessee State University (B.S. in Elementary Education, M.S. in Guidance Counseling), she dedicated her career to youth as an elementary teacher and guidance counselor in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Following her retirement, she continued shaping future educators for over 15 years as an Adjunct Professor and Supervisor of Student Teachers at TSU.

✨ Sorority Leadership & Devotion: For two decades, Sister Novella served as Membership Committee Chairman. Her tireless service to the chapter includes serving as Graduate Advisor for the Eta Beta Chapter (Vanderbilt University), Standards Committee Chair, Vice Correspondence Secretary, Member-at-Large, Nominating Committee Chair, Golden Sister Committee member, and Chairman/Co-Chairman of the Biennial Precious Pearls Cotillion (1999, 2001, 2007).

✨ Regional & Community Legacy: She served as the 2007 South Eastern Regional Awards Committee General Chairman and was honored as Alpha Delta Omega’s Athena Nominee. A faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, she remains a beloved mentor across generations, renowned for her dedication to team building and Sisterly Relations.

✨ Dedicated Public Servant: A Nashville native and proud alumna of Tennessee State University (B.S. in Business Administration), Sister Justine spent over 30 years serving the community as a supervisor with the Department of Human Services and Welfare.

✨ Active Sisterhood & Leadership: A faithful member of Alpha Delta Omega, she served as Co-Chairman of the Community Action Committee and as a dedicated member of the Entertainment Committee, pouring her heart into chapter life and public outreach. 🌸
