🤩 MSIV Spotlight 🤩

Cadet Olivia Marco is a senior at Vanderbilt University studying Public Policy and Chinese and has branched Military Intelligence. Cadet Marco was Alpha Company Commander in the fall, and is now the current operations officer in the battalion S3 shop. Her hobbies include learning languages, dancing, and clowning. Her favorite things about ROTC are the people and the motivational and driven environment. Advice she would like to leave with underclassmen is to “never give up, take initiative, and embrace the suck. Also, file a Clip B if you take a defense language.”

Cadet Grace Kirtley is a senior at Vanderbilt University studying Law, History and Society and has branched Field Artillery with a detail in Military Intelligence. Cadet Kirtley served at the Battalion Commander last semester, and is now the future operations officer for the S3 shop. Her hobbies include running, reading, playing the French horn, and hiking. Her favorite thing about ROTC is the opportunities to lead and learn from one another, and all the laughs at FTX! The advice Cadet Kirtley would like to give to underclassmen is to “give ROTC your all. There are so many opportunities to extend your capabilities if you put yourself out there! Be creative and be yourself.”

Cadet Matthew Bronikowski is a senior at Vanderbilt University studying computer science and has branched Field Artillery with a detail in Engineers. He was the Bravo Company First Sergeant last semester, and is now serving as the BN operations officer. Cadet Bronikowski enjoys weightlifting, mountain biking, and cooking. His favorite thing about ROTC is the opportunity to grow as a person and leader. Advice he would give to underclassmen is to “enjoy it while it lasts and look out for your battle buddies.”

Cadet Ashley Mumford is a senior at Belmont University studying nursing and will join the Army Nurse Corps after commissioning. She served as our cadet recruiting officer in the fall and will be serving as the battalion S2 this semester. Cadet Mumford enjoys running, weightlifting, hiking, rock climbing, reading, and embroidery. Her favorite thing about ROTC are the opportunities and experiences she’s been apart of and tight-knit community of her friends and peers all doing excellent things. The advice she would give to underclassmen is “be humble, make friends, and don’t forget to have fun!”

Cadet Tristen Jensen is a senior at Vanderbilt University studying Human and Organizational Development and will join the National Guard after graduation. He served as Bravo Company’s XO in the fall, and will act as our Battalion S1 this semester. Outside of school and ROTC, Cadet Jensen enjoys weightlifting. His favorite thing about ROTC is the camaraderie among the cadets. His advice he would like to give to underclassmen is to “get invested in the program and take training seriously.”

Cadet Kaitlyn Williams is a senior at Vanderbilt university and is studying medicine, health, and society. She served as the Bravo Company Commander in the fall and is now the Battalion XO. Outside of ROTC and school, she enjoys reading, hiking and baking. Her favorite things about ROTC are the chances to mentor underclassmen as well as the friendships and opportunities to develop as a person and leader. The advice she would give to underclassmen is to “embrace the suck and find your people who support you to be better.”

🚨 MSIV Spotlight 🚨

Cadet Bowman Talbot served as our cadet assistant S3 this past semester and will serve as the Command Sergeant Major this upcoming semester. Cadet Talbot is studying political science and history, and has branched Field Artillery detailed Military Intelligence. Outside of ROTC he enjoys exercising, traveling, reading, and hiking. His favorite part about ROTC is the opportunity to develop himself as a leader and be apart of something greater than himself. Advice he would give to underclassmen is to take any opportunity the army offers you to better yourself, such as learning and traveling through things like Project GO and CTLT.

This month, the Go Gold Battalion had our Field Training Exercise at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, where cadets were able to practice and test their proficiency in STX lane ex*****on, land navigation, rifle qualification, and navigating the obstacle course. Last weekend, our Ranger Challenge Team competed at the 2023 Bold Warrior Ranger Challenge Competition in Fort Knox, Kentucky. They competed in several different grueling events, and did exceptionally well, placing 11th out of 37 other teams. The Go Gold Battalion is so proud of the 11 individuals that represented our school and the hard work they put in all semester.
