Lipscomb Campus Veterans Organization

Lipscomb Campus Veterans Organization The Campus Veterans Organization is the voice and working body for veterans on Lipscomb University's campus.

In addition to serving within the community, we also serve in other countries. We are open to all veteran students, alumni, faculty, and staff. A veterans student group (Campus Veterans Organization - CVO) affords students the opportunity to meet fellow veterans on campus and provides recreational and educational activities. The CVO is a campus charter member of the Student Veterans of America nat

ional chapter and is student led and organized. The CVO is the campus voice to senior faculty and staff for veteran students issues and policies. It also affords students an opportunity to pursue a number of leadership positions during annual elections of the organization staff.

Hi Lipscomb Veterans...Tristan Here. This is an e-mail Chad sent out. I want to cover the bases on here as well. All,

On 1 March, 2018 Lisa Kiss will be in our office. She is here to assist veterans in navigating the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs system when applying for benefits and entitlements, including: disability compensation or pension; dependent and survivor benefits; burial benefits/ pre-registration; healthcare options; GI Bill and education entitlement; vocational rehabilitation; disability claim appeals; obtaining military service and discharge records; and accessing community resources.

If you have any questions in these areas or need assistance please stop by the Veterans office and talk with her. She will be here from 9-3. She is a great resource that can assist you with a number of areas related to your service. If your not sure your specific issue can be addressed by her, I would encourage you to stop by and ask. She will see individuals on a walk-in basis. If you have any questions please let chad know.

Good Morning Lipscomb Veterans, Tristan Here. As you prepare for finals this day...please take a moment of your time to remember Pearl Harbor. 76 years ago our nation was attacked, and America's greatest generation stood up and answered the call to defend her. Today I challenge you to stand up and defend what you believe in about America today.

Good Afternoon all, forgive the long message but an incredible opportunity for you has been created by Raborn Johnson...NOTE: I may try to make this chapel credit for y'all.
Please read from Raborn Johnson...

I live in Murfreesboro and am the composer for a feature length documentary film about the burn pits of Iraq and Afghanistan entitled Delay, Deny, Hope You Die. This important documentary tells the story of American soldiers who returned from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan with severe illnesses from chemical war. They are not the victims of ruthless enemy warfare, but of decisions made by their own military commanders.

These soldiers, afflicted with everything from respiratory diseases to rare cancers, were sickened by the smoke and ash swirling out of the “burn pits”, where both the military and private contractors incinerated mountains of trash. According to soldiers who served there, every type of waste was disposed of and burned, including batteries, appliances, vehicles, plastics, dead animals … even human body parts. Today, up to 100,000 soldiers are sick and dying.

This film has close Tennessee connections. I am the composer for the film, Dr. Robert Miller (Vanderbilt), whose study and findings play a prominent role in the film, features prominently in the film, and Dina McKenna, who lost her husband as a result of his exposure to poisonous burn pits toxins while serving overseas, will be sharing her story briefly after the film.

You can view the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6TE0fLWOto&t=9s

The documentary is being distributed on a crowdfunding basis, meaning tickets must be ordered prior to November 1 to confirm our Nashville screening. We still have to sell 16 tickets by Wednesday to guarantee our Nashville screening. It would be great if you could share this with your group here, as we would love to have folks join us for the Nashville screening on November 9. This will be a one night only screening at the Regal Hollywood Stadium 27 cinema on November 9 at 7:30pm. Dina McKenna will be sharing her story for 10-15 minutes after the film and I will be there as well. Here is an updated link to the ticket page:

The film debuted in Los Angeles earlier this month, and is playing across the country over the next couple of months. We want to bring attention to this important issue, and even more to the men and women who have or are suffering as a result.

It would be amazing if you could help us bring attention to this issue and this film by advertising this for us. If you have anyone you could share this with we would be really grateful. We want to bring the message of these veterans to as many people as possible. Thank you!

Good Afternoon Ladies & Gentlemen...It is simple to say "What a Monday" after all that our country has gone through since it started at 12 EST...and at 3:28 P.M. in Nashville, TN I wanted to write my feelings on today's topic and offer some semblance of peace in the chaos. During these times it is absolutely appropriate to ask why? It's okay to question...where is God? It's okay to mourn. AND it's okay to demand some semblance of compassion and action in response to these events. As your Public Relations Officer I am more than willing to talk about the hard things and pray with you if need be. May God be with all those affected in this senseless tragedy and may we join in prayer together as a country to pray for some kind of hope.

Tristan Writing & It's Story Time...9 years ago today I was in a 15 passenger van departing Fort Lee, Va. To partake in what I believe to be one of the hardest job interviews one can embark on: Becoming a marine. Thankfully I graduated and have solidified the right to wear that title for the rest of my life. And in eight years of service to our country I gained more than I could imagine. How time has flown and now I am pursuing a new service to our country as a Marine Corps Veteran. As your Public Relations Officer I felt it important to share...no matter when you left the service, your service never ends. You are well equipped and we'll pleasing to the Lord. Semper Fidelis and Thank You
