The 2024 Green-a-Thon was a huge success! Thank you to all of the teams, judges, and student leaders for organizing. Ideas from ‘Vandy Bikes’ to ‘Reverse Vending Machines’ exemplify our campus creativity and passion for sustainability!

Congratulations to the top three winners:

Do you have an idea to make Vanderbilt’s campus greener? If yes, come join us for the Green-a-thon, Vanderbilt Green Fund’s annual pitch competition, taking place on Friday, February 16 (3:30-5:30 pm) in the Wond’ry 3rd floor lounge. The Green Fund is a $150,000 budget set aside to fund students’ proposals for projects that make campus more sustainable. Gabrielle Beck, a sophomore studying neuroscience and environmental policy, attended the release of the fifth annual National Climate Assessment on Nov. 14 after receiving an all-expense-paid invitation from program Director Allison Crimmins. A research symposium is being hosted by the Vanderbilt Graduate School called “Implications of Climate Change for a Sustainable Future” on Monday, November 13 from 11AM – 1PM in the Alumni Hall Memorial Room. During this event, four faculty members will present their research on climate change, and Dr. Steve Goodbred, Stevenson Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences, will moderate the discussion. Have you noticed changes to 31st Avenue between West End Avenue and Park Plaza? has been working to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety in the area through targeted improvements. Permanent pedestrian crossings are already installed, and a pilot bike lane is being tested currently. The bike lanes may soon be installed permanently based on feedback from the community.

If you'd like to test out the new bike lanes with a group and provide feedback to NDOT directly, please join NDOT and BikeFun this Thursday, 11/9/23 at 11:30am. Comments are also being collected via an online survey. https://buff.ly/3soLucl
