Associate Professor of English Dr. Andy Briseno will compete on the hit game show "Jeopardy” on Thursday, July 2 at 4:30 p.m. Viewers can watch the episode locally on KTBS Channel 3 in the Shreveport and Natchitoches areas or KALB-TV in Alexandria at 4:30 p.m. The show is also broadcast on KPXJ CW 21 at 5:30 p.m. Live streaming is available for subscribers to services that include local affiliates such as YouTube TV or Hulu.

NSU English Instructor Heather Salter Dromm's chapter “‘Sniffing out a Psycho’: An Analysis of Bisexual Representation in Killing Eve” was recently published in Bisexuality and Popular Culture.

Salter Dromm's chapter analyses bisexual erasure and the doubling of the detective figure, Eve Polastri, and the criminal femme fatale figure, Villanelle, in the television series Killing Eve. Salter Dromm reads Killing Eve through the lens of the Vito Russo test and Kenji Yoshino’s theory on the epistemic contract of bisexual erasure. Salter Dromm also explores the notion of q***r baiting within the show in which q***r archetypes are reconstructed to enchant and seduce an inclusive audience.

Tomorrow, June 18, is the opening of Dr. Rebecca Macijeski's solo show at Shreveport's Artspace. Last spring she was named the Literary Winner for Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s annual Critical Mass showcase. She’s spent the year preparing new work for a solo show, along with the winners for the Visual and Performance Art categories. Come see shows by all three winners. If you can’t make the opening, the Critical Mass exhibit will continue to run in Shreveport’s Artspace through August.

The Louisiana Folklife Center at NSU will present “A Life Spent Singing the Blues: A Music Informance with the Wayne ‘Blue’ Burns Band” on Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum at 800 Front St. in Natchitoches. The event is free and open to the public.
