The fall edition of the Cane River Reading Series featured poet Dr. Chrissy Martin on Sept. 3 in the Cammie G. Henry Research Center at Watson Library. We are pleased to award five ADVANCE English scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year. The award recognizes promising English students and provides $1000 per semester that can be used toward tuition, fees, and other costs of attendance. This week, we are highlighting the recipients.

Ash Serigny, of Winnfield, LA, is a sophomore English major with a concentration in creative writing. They love writing, and it’s always been their dream to become a published author and to have people read the work they poured their heart and soul into. Ash is active in NSU's creative writing community and is working everyday to become the writer they want to be.

We are pleased to award five ADVANCE English scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year. The award recognizes promising English students and provides $1000 per semester that can be used toward tuition, fees, and other costs of attendance. This week, we are highlighting the recipients.

Spiro Roberts, from Baton Rouge, is a junior English major at NSU with a concentration in literature and passion for theater arts. His interests have led him to pursue an academic path that combines both literary analysis and art history. Raised by a lifelong artist and teacher mother and museum curator father, Spiro has chosen to follow in all four footsteps to pursue a career in either library archiving or artistic literary history preservation.

We are pleased to award five ADVANCE English scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year. The award recognizes promising English students and provides $1000 per semester that can be used toward tuition, fees, and other costs of attendance. This week, we are highlighting the recipients.

Vie Green, of Kaplan, LA, is a first-year student majoring in English with an expected concentration in literature. Her main passion is writing poetry, but she also enjoys reading and analyzing literature. She’s always been focused on educating herself on things she may not understand very well. Some of her goals include publishing her own poetry and working with other writers to add a better understanding of literature into the world. She also intends to get her MA after she graduates.
