Pi Kappa Phi was founded on the premise of creating leadership opportunities for our members. Our founders exemplified leadership in the classroom, on the athletic field, in campus politics and within the community of Charleston. Leadership is the very root of our organization, and it is the concept of leadership that shall guide us to our future.

The brothers and alumni of the Beta Omicron Chapter are saddened to learn of the passing of a special friend, Mrs. Blanche Watkins.

Mrs. Watkins is the mother of Mrs. Frances Watkins Conine, retired NSU Dean of Students, VP for the Student Experience, and former Beta Omicron Chapter Mother. Mrs. Watkins was a frequent guest at chapter gatherings, including our Extra Mile Scholarship Banquet. She was a model of class and a truly delightful person. Mrs. Watkins held a special fondness for Pi Kappa Phi throughout her adult life, as her late husband, Mr. John C. Watkins, was a former archon of the Omicron Chapter at the University of Alabama. She always wore a beautiful Pi Kappa Phi ring on her finger.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Watkins and Conine families as they celebrate her legacy.

Make plans now to join us in Natchitoches on September 11-12, 2026 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the chartering of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Northwestern State University. We're planning a full weekend of activities for alumni, students, and their families, centered on reconnecting generations of Pi Kapps and commemorating the chapter’s rich history and accomplishments.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is a lasting reminder of selflessness, courage and honor.

On this Memorial Day, Pi Kappa Phi reflects on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We are forever grateful for their legacy and their service.

To commemorate 70 years since the Beta Omicron Chapter's founding in 1956, the Beta Omicron Alumni Chapter is announcing a membership drive to help ensure the student chapter's success into the next momentous era at NSU. The 'Seventy for 70' campaign looks to achieve at least 70 alumni who are actively involved in the Beta Omicron Alumni Chapter. As of the launch of this membership drive, we are already 60% to our goal!
