I want to congratulate our Class of 2026. What a year! Our students worked so hard in their studies, building their profiles, exploring their interest and diligently researching the colleges and universities they ended up submitting applications to. Bravo! A few observations-
1. Fewer of my students applied Early Decision than in previous years which is why the list of acceptances is longer. I hope this trend continues.
2. At the same time, my students who applied Regular Decision submitted fewer applications. I do not fully understand the reason but I commend them for that.
3. Increasingly, my students are wanting to apply to larger universities, even amongst our private school population. I try and promote the benefits of a liberal arts education, but the vast majority are looking for a more pre-professional track within a larger and more "independent" setting. This has been an evolving and well documented trend.
Special appreciation goes out to my colleague and partner, Chris Overbye (Boarding and Day Schools) and also to David Zindell (Test Prep), for all the hard work they put in.
