To kick off the new academic year, the annual Olin celebration, “O-Nival” was held at the close of Orientation last Sunday. It was an evening of food, fun, and connection on the Oval.

There were giant inflatable slides, a dunk tank, face painting, balloons and most important, community. 🍔🧋🎨

Tomorrow, a new chapter begins!

Some Oliners are arriving for the very first time. Others will be returning next weekend to continue the journey.

Together, we’ll all spend the year asking big questions, building bold ideas, and learning cool things from one another. 🛠️

Welcome (back) to Olin. We can’t wait to see what you’ll create.💙🩷

It’s official: Olin College professors are #1. 👏

In The Princeton Review‘s “The Best 392 Colleges: 2027 Edition,” Olin earned the top ranking for “Professors Get High Marks,” jumping from No. 6 last year.

Olin also earned:

🥈 No. 2 Best Classroom Experience - up from 8
🏠 No. 7 Best College Dorms - up from 10

The 1 ranking for our means something special.

At Olin, students learn in small, collaborative classes where faculty definitely aren’t just teaching from the front of the room. 🐝

They’re working alongside Oliners during the fall, winter, spring, and summer, challenging their thinking, adapting courses, mentoring projects, and helping turn ideas into action.

As one Princeton Review student put it, Olin professors are “constantly adapting their courses to make it a better experience for students.”

We think that’s worth celebrating. 💙

What happens when a classroom project becomes published research?

At Olin, it means identifying a barrier to hands-on learning, designing a solution with the people who will use it, testing that solution in a real course, and sharing what you learn with the broader community. 🛠️📝⚡️

Olin student Emily Boyd ’28 recently presented “Removing Barriers to Circuit Prototyping with an Adaptive Breadboard,” a paper co-authored with Olin Professor Emily W. Tow, at the Canadian Engineering Education Association ( ) conference.

The project began in Olin’s ISIM course, where Emily and Professor Tow co-designed an adaptive breadboard to enable a student to independently build circuits without being limited by fine motor skills. The oversized breadboard worked for most course assignments and made it possible for the student to participate in the course similarly to their peers, while also revealing challenges that informed the team’s learning and future design.

👉The result is more than a classroom project. It’s published that contributes to a broader conversation about how accessible tools can expand access to experiential learning.
