CrossBorn

CrossBorn Original Christian Hard Rock from Central Illinois In 2014, the name CrossBorn came to Marty Gibson in a dream. Fast forward to 2017. Where else to look?

The very next day, he offered the name to his bandmates in the Neoga Grace United Methodist Church praise band. Shortly after that, he wrote the song and began the arduous recording process. Marty finished recording CrossBorn and three other original Christian hard rock songs and began looking for opportunities to share his work. At this point, Jamison Leesley of Leesley Films arrived on the scene

. After reviewing Marty's songs, Jamison agreed to include them in his upcoming Christian Science Fiction thriller, Apparition. In quick fashion, Jamison enlisted Marty's help with producing an instrumental track and agreeing to shoot the movie's next scene at Rock University in Neoga, Marty's music instruction business. With all of these things happening so quickly and painlessly, Marty realized it was time to come out of his so-called "gigging retirement" and get the band together. What better place to start than with the CrossBorn Praise Band? Vocalist/keyboardist Paul Bierman and drummer Garet Shuemaker immediately jumped at the opportunity. Family, of course. Marty's brother, Bryan, climbed on board to play bass and offer background vocals along with Marty and Garet. Who else do we need? Bill Mattern joined up as the guitar tech/drum tech/roadie; Jan VonBokel agreed to be the band's wardrobe manager, Joe Ingram became band photographer, and Caleb Abernathy became band videographer. Jamison Leesley is the band's video producer. The group is looking for a second guitarist, as well as a band manager and booking agent.

As a co-sponsor of the Class of 2027, I would like to announce our upcoming fundraiser, which will be hosted on the Kansas CUSD3 Schools page.

We will be uploading a "Prize Board" as seen below with 100 spots on it. Between March 11th and March 22nd, you will be able to "buy" a spot (or multiple spots) for $20 each. All you have to do is comment ON THE OFFICIAL POST ON THE SCHOOL'S OFFICIAL PAGE and say which spot(s) you would like to purchase, then submit your payment to the school office.

Certain spots will have prizes "attached" to them. For example, if you are the FIRST PERSON to comment (ONLY ON THE OFFICIAL POST ON THE SCHOOL'S OFFICIAL PAGE) that you want Spot #20 and follow through with your payment, you will receive the prize that is assigned to that spot after the fundraiser concludes on the 22nd. Be advised, though, that not every spot is a "winner." With that being said, the students and I have reached out to MANY area businesses for gift certificates and/or donations, and some of the prizes are pretty cool!

So, stay tuned to the school's official page, and you'll see the post on Monday, March 11th. We encourage everyone to participate and share the word with all of their friends, family, and neighbors. The Class of 2027 and I thank you in advance for your support!

Another lyric video is finished! “Weary Traveler” is one of my favorite songs. I had the chord progression for a LONG time, but my lyrics were not very good. When I shared it with our singer, Thad Brimner, he had the perfect lyrics for it.

Bryan’s harmony vocals, my bass vocal, and Steve’s piano track took the song over the top. Clocking in at 7:30, it’s a long song, but I believe every single part is necessary, and the finished product is EPIC. Enjoy the song, and stay tuned for more lyric videos in the near future!

My good and faithful servant, well done.

Well, it appears that we’ve hit the end of the road. 😢 We had a good run, played some big venues and festivals, released an EP we’re VERY proud of, and had a really good time along the way. Hopefully, our music touched some souls.

With that being said, we have two more songs to share with you. “Weary Traveler” is all finished and will be shared shortly. “Goosebumps” still needs a little studio work, but it won’t be far behind.

Thanks to our band members past and present, and to all who supported us. Dave Kruse gets a special shout-out for having us on his show, Brian Hoppie Jr. wrote an excellent review for us, and KOUJ radio had some of our music in their rotation. Jason Katz also invited us to play twice at his festival in Galesburg. I’m sure I’m leaving out some other key people, and I apologize for my poor memory. I’m sure your names will come to around 3am tomorrow.

Best wishes to each of you, and keep rocking for The Rock!

Our search for a drummer continues. We’re in the studio now, working on a full-length album of original material.

It’s official! We have a new drummer, Mr. Jeff Ogle!

Keep your eyes open for our new full-length album in August and a variety of live shows, including the world-famous Bagelfest in Mattoon, IL.

We’re going to miss playing with our good friend and brotherfromanothermother Garet Shuemaker, but he needs to enjoy as much time as he can with his wife and little girl before she grows up.
