With the changes forced by the coronavirus, students were not allowed to come back to the residence halls and pack up their belongings left behind after spring break. Many Cottey employees volunteered to pack students personal items and move them to vehicles as students and parents came to pick them up. We offer our thanks to the Cottey volunteers who took time out of their workdays to assist our students in this transition.

Dear Cottey Alumnae,

The safety for our alumnae, guests and campus community is of the upmost importance to us. After much consideration and discussion, we have come to the conclusion that it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel Founder’s Day Weekend. We know you were looking forward to reuniting with your classmates, seeing the campus, meeting our students, eating the delicious Cottey cuisine until you popped and sing ‘til you were hoarse. We are just as disappointed, Cottey is alive with energy with many new initiatives coming in the near future and we were so excited to share them with you!

BUT WAIT--Don’t pack up your ducks and daisies yet! We still want to celebrate and are moving forward with a Virtual Founder’s. The Cottey College Alumnae Association Board of Directors and our offices are brainstorming various avenues of connecting virtually, so stayed tuned! We will post updates on the Cottey website: www. https://cottey.edu/alumnae/founders-day/ and on our page: Cottey College Alumnae. We will also send out an email once plans have been finalized.

How about a redo? Founder’s Day Weekend at its very core is the opportunity to reconnect with classmates, to laugh, hug, reminisce, maybe shed a tear or two, and spend the weekend being a Cottey girl again. So why wait until 2025? Mark your calendars now- March 26-28, 2021 to celebrate your reunion year plus one, at Founder’s 2021--and as a bonus you’ll be able to celebrate with your freshmen! As an extra bonus next year’s Founder’s will occur on Virginia Alice Cottey Stockard’s birthday, March 27. With this rare occurrence, plans have already begun for an epic birthday bash; we’ll hope you’ll join us.

We will be issuing refunds by mailing you a check via USPS. Our business office will be working on processing them as quickly as possible. If you would rather have your fees designated towards attending Founder’s 2021, we will keep the credit in your record. You may also choose to gift your fees to a fund, scholarship or initiative of choice.

The Founder’s Day T-shirts have already been ordered and our office will work on mailing them to you once they have arrived.

Please reply to this email or call our offices with your desire on how you would like us to proceed handling your registration fees.
