What a wonderful group for a Toni Morrison deep-dive! If only we could have met for hours each day instead of only 50 minutes!

Congratulations to Dr. Sandy Chaney on her retirement from Cottey and her earning the title of Professor Emerita! Although Dr. Chaney was a professor of history, many of our English majors/minors took classes with her and know first-hand what a gem she is! We will miss her so much, but we are so grateful for all she gave to the College and to her students and colleagues! Best wishes, Dr. Chaney!! You deserve a wonderful next chapter!

Congratulations to Crestin Lusk who is graduating this weekend with a B.A. in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and a minor in English. Crestin, pictured here with her signed, official capstone thesis title page, completed her WGS Capstone last spring so she could focus on an English minor this year. Crestin turned her internship working on a local political campaign into a job after graduation! Crestin, we are so proud of you and are excited for your future!

For their creative project this spring, students in ENG 103: Literature and Medicine created a literary pharmacy where people could get literary prescriptions for whatever was ailing them. It was a lot of fun to create the pharmacy, and the students did a lovely job prescribing their favorite texts! (The envelopes are filled with scrolls containing the printed text [i.e., "medicine"] that has been prescribed.) The pharmacy is still up in the RBAC Student Art Gallery, so check it out if you are on campus!
