🌞 Between 2010 and 2021, the United States experienced 10 different billion-dollar drought events. For example, in 2021, the Western Drought and Heat Wave cost $9.4 billion (CPI-adjusted).

🔥 As a result of moisture brought in by a monsoonal season, the number and severity of wildfires in California was much less than experts expected. The small amounts of rain helped in reducing a little bit of the wildfire potential.

🌞 Due to the ongoing drought in California, the state’s water management agency is being forced to reduce its fresh water supply for approximately 27 million residents.

Yesterday, the state’s Department of Water Resources announced that initially only 5% of requested water supplies can be provided for 2023 for local water agencies across California.
