Phi Sigma Kappa
Nu Tetarton Chapter

We are Phi Sigma Kappa, a chapter with over 50 strong years of history at Rutgers University and an emerging new status on campus that has grown to over 30 members in the past years and continues to grow and thrive. WE ARE DIFFERENT because we seek only true brotherhood, one that respects its members and anyone that associates with it, one that tolerates ab

solutely NO hazing but creates bonds of friendship that last for your time at Rutgers and BEYOND. Phi Sigma Kappa was founded in order to promote brotherhood, stimulate scholarship, and develop character - our fraternity's three cardinal principles. It has been a long-time leader among Greek organizations. Augmented and strengthened by a merger with Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity in 1985, the Fraternity has 79 Chapters and colonies and a total membership of more than 118,000. The heritage of Phi Sig is not cold lists of names and dates. It is not a recital of legislation and debates. It is not a financial balance sheet, nor an annual treasurer's report, nor the agenda and program for a convention. The heritage of Phi Sig is what transcends all of these things. When all of the lists and names and reports and speeches are gone-what is left is our heritage. It is more than 100 years old; but its principles are timeless. Massachusetts Agricultural College in Amherst-now the University of Massachusetts-is the setting for our founding. Among its other students in the early 1870s it had attracted six men of varied backgrounds, ages, abilities and goals in life, who saw the need for a new and different kind of society on campus that was receptive to experimentation. These, our Founders, banded together in their sophomore year (1873) to form a "society to promote morality, learning and social culture." We have the highest GPA among all fraternities on campus. Alumni offer 3 $1,000 Scholarships to its members who boast the 3 highest gpas EVERY semester. Alumni also give 2 $500 scholarships for the next 2 highest gpas, 2 $500 scholarships for the most community service hours logged per semester, and 2 $500 for most events attended. A brother can only receive a maximum of one scholarship per semester. Join an emerging chapter on the Rutgers Campus and help be apart of the search and founding of a new Chapter House on campus and define it. Be a part of an organization that not only gives you something to do or people to hang with, be a part of a fraternity that stands by true principles of brotherhood and family, one that promotes scholarship and character unlike any other. Requirements for Joining:
-12 Completed College Credits
-Must attend a minimum of three rush events and an informational session
-Have a GPA greater than 2.5 (note: Phi Sigma Kappa prides itself on its members ability to earn and maintain some of the highest Greek organization GPAs),
-Rutgers (second semester freshmen or more) -Able to pay dues ($425 for New Members)
-Be registered with OFSA.
- Additionally, interested persons should be able to exemplify and uphold our cardinal principles of brotherhood, scholarship, and character. As a new Member you will be expected to uphold those cardinal principals as well as some study hours, your grades will be as important to you as they are to us. You will be educated on the history of our Fraternity, as well as Greek life in general. Note: This chapter's alcohol and hazing policy is in accordance with Rutgers OFSA and Phi Sigma Kappa National Chapter's policies. Rutgers Policies: http://goo.gl/8Lh09L
Nat. Policies: http://goo.gl/34gKWI
Further, the Nu Tetarton Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa has a zero tolerance policy towards racism, ethnic stereotyping, sexism, religious discrimination, and alcoholic or other profanities. The fraternity’s Cardinal Principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character do not allow its members to engage in any such themes or activities. The chapter as a result enjoys and takes great pride in the diversity of its members. Diversity has been and will continue to be one of the cornerstones of this chapter because it provides the chapter and its members with many growing opportunities and new ideas/perspectives. Furthermore, the chapter does not use, nor does it condone, the use of any of the above themes or concepts as part of any advertising schemes, recruitment, etc. In addition, to such things being highly inappropriate, the chapter has recognized that those who do wish to promote racism, sexism, etc. do not constitute the type of men that we wish to join our brotherhood. In conclusion, the chapter will always seek to create and promote an environment which is safe for all of its members and/or guests and a reputation befitting of our Cardinal Principles.

Freedom, democracy, courage and compassion. These are just a few of the attributes that make America such a great country. Let us remember that 241 years ago today our forefathers fought and gave their lives for their independence from the British and to establish the United States of America. Happy 4th of July everyone!!
