tudents interested in becoming a member of a fraternity or sorority at Rutgers must meet the following criteria. Upper-class and Transfer students may become members at any time; first-year students may not join until the start of their second semester. All students must meet the minimum academic eligibility requirements before being accepted for membership. Eligibility to join is based upon ALL of the following:
-Completion of at least twelve (12) credits at Rutgers University - New Brunswick (including E credits, excluding AP credits)
-A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 (only for women participating in the Panhellenic Council’s NPC formal recruitment in January)
-Currently enrolled as a full-time Rutgers University-New Brunswick student

Membership Expectations: Members agree to attend mandatory chapter events, pay according to the semester financial plan and abide by all Gamma Phi Beta policies, bylaws and procedures. Hazing will be strongly prohibited and heavily punishable. Members and new members will recognize acts of hazing including but not limited to the Rutgers University Hazing Compliance policy (refer to Hazing Compliance forms.) If caught in the act of hazing, members shall be brought up on an executive council meeting. Alcohol Policy: All members and new members will adhere to the state alcohol policy of New Jersey and Rutgers University. Members shall not consume alcohol on the Gamma Phi Beta premises or at any chapter event. If alcohol infractions should occur, members will face an executive hearing, officers shall be removed from their position and further sanctions will be considered.
