Attention Honors College enrolling students! Complete or update your housing application and select "Rutgers Honors Housing" by June 5.

To live in a residence hall with fellow Honors College students, you must select "Rutgers Honors Housing" on your housing application and submit it by this Friday, June 5. Placement is not automatic.

The Rutgers Housing Application, including updates to an already submitted application, is due June 5. If you've already selected "Rutgers Honors Housing" on your application, no additional action is needed.

Next, we're introducing Lead Honors Community Mentor Maya Zarcone ('27, SAS/HC), an Honors College student double majoring in computer science and classics. In the future, she hopes to pursue a graduate degree in computer science and work as a software engineer. On campus, Maya is involved with the Aresty Research Center as a Peer Instructor, as well as the Learning Assistant Program, Society of Women Engineers, and Rutgers Art History Student Association. In her free time, Maya enjoys drawing, reading, and traveling.

Honors College Class of 2030! It's Mentor Monday again, and today we're introducing two amazing Community Mentors who are part of your Welcome Team!

First up is Dylan Adamo (’28, SAS/HC), an Honors College student majoring in applied physics and music performance, studying with Professor Nye, a bassoonist for the New York Philharmonic. Outside of music performance, he has volunteered to teach music in his community’s summer programs and has experience teaching one-on-one. In his free time, Dylan enjoys playing video games, hiking, cooking, traveling, and connecting with others.

Be sure to introduce yourself to Dylan during Welcome Week in late August, and ask him about his interdisciplinary studies!

Today, we're also introducing Lakim Williams ('27, RBS/HC), another member of your Welcome Team and a Lead Honors College Community Mentor. Lakim is majoring in supply chain management, driven by a deep belief that the way you build something is just as important as what you build. Lakim works across operations and strategy, from interning with BMW Group to running his own fashion brand where he manages everything from vendor sourcing to the final product drop. He also serves as a Peer Mentor with THRIVE, walking alongside continuing students as they navigate their path. When he's not in work mode, Lakim is designing streetwear, hooping, or finding new ways to turn creative ideas into something real.

Be sure to talk with Lakim during Welcome Week about how he pursued opportunities on campus.

Happy Mentor Monday, HC Class of 2030! Today, we're introducing Alejandra Afanador ('27, SAS/HC), a Lead Honors Community Mentor and another member of your Welcome Team!

Alejandra is an Honors College student majoring in political science with a double minor in psychology and philosophy, politics, and economics, aspiring to pursue a career in law. In addition to serving as a Lead Honors Community Mentor at the Honors College, Alejandra is the Founding President of BridgeRutgers alongside dedicated leadership of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and Latino Student Council (LSC). She also has a history of involvement in student government. Passionate about civic engagement, Alejandra is a strong advocate for student leadership, community building, and professional development. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and connecting with others.

As part of your Welcome Team, Honors College Class of 2030, we're also introducing today Jerry DeBlois ('27, SAS/HC), a Lead Honors Community Mentor who is majoring in biological sciences, seeking to become a physician with a focus on public healthcare education. Jerry also works with Digital Classroom Services as a Digital Support Specialist, assists in oncological research, and is the president of Perfect Pair Rutgers. When he has free time, Jerry loves to play soccer, explore nature, DJ, and hang with his friends!

Honors College Class of 2030! We'll be introducing members of your Welcome Team each Monday over the summer, so check back often to meet some of our amazing student leaders who are here for you as part of your network of support in the Honors College community!

First up today is Nkosazana Burke-Douglas ('28, SAS/HC), a Lead Honors College Community Mentor who is majoring in clinical psychology and Korean, with aspirations of becoming a physician-scientist specializing in psychiatry. Beyond her studies and serving as an Honors Community Mentor, Nkosazana conducts research as a McNair Scholar and is a College Advising Fellow for Matriculate where she advises high school students with their college applications. She recently was the recipient of the Critical Language Scholarship, a fully funded scholarship from the United States Department of State to study Korean this summer!

Look for Nkosazana during Welcome Week when you arrive on campus later this summer, and watch for more Welcome Team introductions!

You'll be matched this summer with your own Honors Peer Mentor, an upper-grade Honors College student, who will have similar academic, career, and/or extracurricular interests and can help you in your transition to college!

Meet Nistha Sheth ('26, SAS/HC) who is majoring in astrophysics, with hopes of pursuing her Ph.D in theoretical astrophysics. In addition to being one of our amazing Honors Peer Mentors, Nistha is the Secretary of the Society of Physics Students, does astrophotography with the Astronomical Society, and conducts research in astrochemistry in the Chemistry Department! Outside of academics, Nistha loves to dance and do origami, as well as spend time with family and friends.
