Congratulations, Southern Alumni Jen Ackerman for being named CTAHPERD Teacher of the Year. Ackerman is a double alum, with both her Bachelor of Science (Physical Education 2006) and Master's Degree (School Health Education 2012) being from SCSU. It is great to see our alumni doing the good work and our professional organizations recognizing greatness. As a program we look forward to being at the award ceremony at this year's Annual Fall CTAHPERD Conference to celebrate Ackerman's achievement.

Congratulations to 2026 CTAHPERD HS Physical Education Teacher of The Year: Jen Ackerman, LEARN Marine Science Magnet H.S.

Building comfort and confidence starts early. Freshman HMS students participated in an icebreaker activity during their Inquiry class. The activity aims to help them become more comfortable interacting with fellow students while preparing them for the physical contact involved in working with patients and clients.

🎙️ Congratulations to HMS' Dr. Bob Knipe on the launch of Preservice Pipeline, a new column in the Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (JOPERD)!

Designed to foster dialogue and scholarship around the preparation of future health and physical education professionals, Preservice Pipeline provides a dedicated space for exploring the experiences, challenges, and growth of preservice teachers entering the field.
