Ucross High Plains Stewardship Initiative Fostering science-based land stewardship and conservation in the Western United States https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ucross-Foundation/133074156001?fref=ts

The High Plains are one of the most extensive and emblematic ecosystems of North America. Lying in the rain shadow of the Rocky Mountains, the plains are too dry to support much tree growth, but feature a diverse and resilient cover of grasses, forbs, and low shrub growth that was once home to huge herds of bison. The High Plains are at the nexus of many of the most pressing environmental issues f

acing the United States today, including water use, energy resource development, human-wildlife interactions, and climate change. The Ucross High Plains Stewardship Initiative will be a forum for exploring these questions using the Ucross Ranch in Wyoming as a model system. The Ucross High Plains Stewardship Initiative is a cooperative effort between Ucross Foundation and the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies for development, demonstration, and outreach of the procedures and technical tools for land stewardship to manage multiple resources in the High Plains Country of Wyoming.
