The Yale Kalaa

The Yale Kalaa We are Yale's newest Indian Classical Dance group. The team usually has weekly one hour practices.

As of now, our group includes Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Kuchipudi dancers.

'The Yale Kalaa' is a hub through which trained classical undergraduate and graduate dancers can get the opportunity to start performing for various events on campus. If you have experience in classical dance, we would love to hear from you! In case you were wondering, 'Kalaa' (pronounced "cuh-laa") is a Sanskrit word mea

ning "a skilled craft" and we take our craft seriously. We use our craft to celebrate and share the joy of classical dance.

Hope everyone is safe and self-quarantining in a positive environment! The world is fighting a hard battle right now, and all of our lives have been disrupted by COVID-19. In these trying times, it is up to each of us to do what we can to protect each other. Respect social-distancing, stay inside your homes, and don’t worry about toilet paper (the Indian method is much better!). Kalaa is sending you all happy energy, and we will get through this soon.
