REGISTER: CIRA Talk: "Resilience in HIV and Aging Research in Response to Crises: Lessons from Ukraine"

Tuesday, December 6, 2022
10:00 am - 11:00 am via Zoom

In this talk, the speakers will give an overview of the team's current HIV/AIDS research in Ukraine, paying special attention to how they have been adapting to ongoing crises (first the COVID-19 pandemic, and now the war) in terms of their research questions/foci and methods. They will share some findings on how older people with HIV (OPWH, defined as ≥50 years) cope during the war with daily life challenges and HIV and non-HIV care; and how HIV and addiction clinicians have adapted their care provision processes to start creating a 'New Normal' in response to the crisis. The team will also comment on challenges to conducting research during crises, strategies to overcome these challenges, efforts to maintain productivity and communication with research collaborators, and considerations in developing and conducting HIV/AIDS-related research in humanitarian contexts.

Speakers:
1. Julia Rozanova, PhD, Yale School of Medicine
2. Sheela Shenoi, MD, MPH, Yale School of Medicine
3. Oleksandr Zeziulin, MD, European Institute of Public Health Policy, Ukraine
4. Irina Zaviryukha, MD, European Institute of Public Health Policy, Ukraine
5. Tetiana Kiriazova, PhD, European Institute of Public Health Policy, Ukraine

Moderator: Luke Davis, MD, MAS, Yale Schools of Public Health and Medicine, CIRA

Faculty members from the Yale Schools of Public Health Medicine recently joined an interdisciplinary group of students and researchers in Kuala Lumpur for a summer boot camp on implementation science. The three-day series of lectures, presentations, and working groups was the first in-person boot camp since Yale University and the Universiti Malaya established the Malaysian Implementation Science Training (MIST) center last year.

Faculty members from the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) and Yale School of Medicine (YSM) recently joined an interdisciplinary group of students and

June 15, 1:00 pm - CIRA Talk: "Reducing HIV Transmission Among People who Use Drugs: Bridge Clinic Implementation of Low‐Barrier PrEPand MOUD"

REGISTER: https://yale.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0uc-yqpjktGtxZhSQijCIOATgkr4PvIs27

High HIV transmission continues to impact people who inject drugs (PWID) and other people who use substances in many regions across the country. HIV pre‐ and post‐exposure prophylaxis (PrEP, PEP) and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) are potent biomedical HIV‐prevention tools yet remain underutilized. Low‐threshold, on‐demand models are needed to deliver evidence‐based services to those at highest risk. This talk will describe experiences with the implementation and delivery of HIV PEP/PrEP and MOUD in Faster Paths, the low‐barrier substance use disorder bridge clinic at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Join this CIRA Talk for a presentation by Dr. Jessica Taylor (Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center), followed by a discussion and Q&A moderated by Dr. Jennifer Edelman (CIRA). Please feel welcome to submit questions in advance with the Zoom registration below.
