Join us all day for , which will examine philanthropy’s power and purposes, diving deep into the sector’s history and exploring its boundaries, limitations, and opportunities, with a special focus on how has both contributed to and worked to dismantle inequities. In this time of unprecedented need for support and action, philanthropy has a responsibility to reimagine its role, shedding new light on the complex interplay of the and addressing questions of , influence, and . Our conference is bringing together donors, practitioners, fundraisers, scholars, and advisors to critically evaluate the prevalent principles of and trends in grant making and investing and re-envision how the field can continue to evolve.

Donnie Belcher and Lauren Burke from Camp Equity kicked off by leading participants through a fast-paced, lively and informative workshop on ten different ways to generate revenue for their nonprofits, including the CATER method outlined here. Donnie and Lauren are long time friends, nonprofit founders, consultants and social entrepreneurs who have collectively raised millions in charitable funds.

Organizations led by-and-for the communities they serve achieve striking results. Join Chicago-based prison abolitionists for an interactive workshop on conflict resolution and community leadership that will showcase the role local communities play in driving change. Q&A will discuss how foundations center the work and expertise of small, locally led organizations. We ask participants to have their cameras on (as able) and attend for the full hour.

Facilitated by AnnMarie Brown from Circles & Ciphers and Orlando "Chilli" Mayorga of Precious Blood Ministry Of Reconciliation, this workshop will also include Michael Aguhar from Crossroads Fund and Cate Fox from MacArthur Foundation.

The US incarcerates people at a higher rate than any country in the world—more than 5 times more than second highest country. This dehumanizing system disproportionally targets people of color, and black men in particular, exemplifying the rampant systemic racism still ravaging the US. Ending the practice of mass incarceration and supporting those who have been impacted by it will require efforts at the local, state, and national levels. The panel "Humanizing Justice: Tools for Combatting Mass Incarceration" will explore the challenges and opportunities to creating a more equitable, effective, and moral justice system that provides positive outcomes for individuals and society, and how philanthropy can best use its resource and capital to support.

Featuring Dominique Morgan (She/Her) of Black and Pink, Lauren-Brooke Eisen of Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law, and Diane Sierpina of The Tow Foundation.

As president and CEO, Judy Belk leads Cal Wellness in pursuing its mission to protect and improve the health and wellness of the people of California. She uses her vision and her voice to help Cal Wellness “level the playing field” so that everyone has access to health care, quality education, good jobs, healthy environments and safe neighborhoods.

Belk is a seasoned leader with more than 25 years of senior management experience in the philanthropic, government, nonprofit and corporate sectors. Before joining Cal Wellness in April 2014, she served as senior vice president of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and as vice president of global public affairs at Levi Strauss & Co.
