🌸 One of the best parts of life at the USCGA isn’t just the classes, training, or traditions — it’s the people. 💙⚓

Every spring, the Academy comes alive with friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Cadets meet classmates and exchange students from all over the country and around the world, learning new perspectives, cultures, and experiences that shape them both personally and professionally. 🌎

Teammates become best friends. Study groups turn into lifelong bonds. Shared challenges create connections that last far beyond graduation day.

Ask any cadet what makes their time at the Academy special, and many will say the same thing:
👉 “The people.”

Here’s to the friendships, teamwork, and memories that make the USCGA feel like home. ✨

💙 Some connections made at the Academy last far beyond graduation day.

For many cadets, Sponsor Families become more than a “home away from home” — they become family for life. From holiday visits and weekend stays to attending weddings, graduations, promotions, and retirement ceremonies, these relationships continue to grow long after the Academy years are over. ⚓✨

Years later, cadets return with spouses, children, and stories to share… keeping traditions, memories, and friendships alive across generations. What begins as a simple act of support often becomes a lifelong bond filled with love, laughter, nostalgia, and unwavering connection.

To our Sponsor Families and cadets — thank you for building relationships that stand the test of time. ❤️

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. ❤️🤍💙

Their courage, service, and sacrifice gave us the freedoms we enjoy every day, and for that we are forever grateful.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, may we also take a quiet moment to reflect on those who gave so much for all of us.

Thank you to all who have served and to the families who carry their memories forward and who have supported them along the way.

Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful, and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸

Proof that you’re never too old to be a kid again 😄

From backyard games of tag to intense rounds of Candyland, time spent with sponsor families has a way of bringing cadets right back to those carefree childhood moments. There’s something about laughing with little ones, running around the yard, and fully embracing the chaos that reminds you what “home” feels like.

Watch to the end to see if this cadet finally manages to tag Jason during a very competitive game of tag 👀🏃‍♂️

These are the moments that go beyond the day-to-day—where connections grow, stress fades, and cadets get to stay young at heart, even just for an afternoon.

Because sometimes, the best reset is a game of tag… or Candyland 💛

Getting out and exploring New London is more than just a change of scenery—it’s an opportunity to build real connections that last far beyond the Academy experience.

One of the best (and most fun) ways to do that? Take your sponsor cadets out to local restaurants! Whether it’s for a holiday meal, celebrating a big milestone, or just grabbing dinner “just because,” these moments create space for conversation, laughter, and a sense of home away from Chase Hall.

And that’s just one of the many ways sponsors can help cadets experience everything New London County has to offer—beyond the gates.

🍽️ So let’s hear from you:
What are your favorite spots in the New London area to take cadets? Drop your go-to restaurants, hidden gems, and must-visit places in the comments!

Every cadet has a story—and every sponsor family gets the unique privilege of watching that story unfold 💙

They arrive with different backgrounds, personalities, dreams, and challenges… and before long, many become part of your family in ways you never expected.

Some are hilarious.
Some are quiet and thoughtful.
Some are adventurous.
Some are incredibly driven.
Some feel like the extra son, daughter, sibling, or friend you didn’t know you needed.

And somehow, all of them leave a lasting impact.

Current USCGA sponsor families—we’d love to hear from you ⬇️

How would you describe your cadet(s)?
What makes them special?
What’s something you’ve learned from them or grown to appreciate about them?

Share in the comments and help show future sponsor families just how meaningful these relationships can be ❤️⚓
