With Summer 2026 classes finished, is updating it's opening hours. From Friday, July 31 through to Sunday, August 9 the library will be open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Have a great weekend!

The summer semester is at the end, but we still have a couple more summer reading recs from our lovely staff. Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo was recommended by two different staff members! The book is a top banned/challenged book (as reported by the American Library Association), so you know it's good. An LGBTQI coming of age story that is set during Red Scare, get it from the leisure reading collection on the 2nd floor. 📖

The statistics roll call continues with another of our very popular services - wifi hotspots (with unlimited data!) that can be borrowed from the library free of charge. In the Spring 2026 semester alone wifi hotspots were borrowed (and free internet was provided...) 831 times. 😊

here with some more numbers for y'all. Our group study rooms are available to all of our wonderful students by reservation, and last year they proved to be popular, with group study rooms being reserved for a whopping 9459 hours. Which is... (checks calculator) a lot of hours 🔢

We've been on a bit of a social media hiatus (*cough* summer vacation *cough*) here at , but we're back with some more summer reading fun. This week Julia has recommended Revolutionary Girl Utena by Chiho Saito: One of the most influential pieces of work in the world of illustrated story and animation targeted specifically to women. It is a surreal coming of age story that tackles themes of gender performance, sexuality, patriarchy, and the impact of power structures on adolescents. Borrow it from the Leisure Reading collection on the 2nd floor! 🌴

We love talking about all the services we offer here at - study spaces, interlibrary loan, tech you can check out, archives, research help, etc., etc., etc. But, how many people take advantage of what we have to offer? We're going to answer exactly that question over the next few weeks by looking at Earl K. Long Library by the numbers. And we'll start with an easy one: 224,712, which is the number of library visits we recorded in 2025.

Summer semester has begun and it is prime time for some (and watching, and listening) recommendations from us here at . First up is a listening recommendation from Jaime (ILL & Stacks): RAM by Paul McCartney. Jaime says, "Before Paul McCartney unleashed the devastation known as Wings upon the world, he recorded RAM with his wife Linda (😭). Panned by critics on its release, it is in retrospect a perfect album for some summer listening... and far superior to that Wings claptrap (come fight me)." You can find it in the library's vinyl collection (ask for it at the Services Desk!).
