Dr. Nicky Anthony and her Post-Doc Courtney Miller published a paper on tiny tropical puddle frogs showing that protecting genetic variation is essential for animals to survive the climate crisis

Scientists studied puddle frogs to identify genetic variation hotspots and places where the climate crisis could wipe out populations too homogenous to adapt.

Congratulations to Loandi Cruz who is the first recipient of the Amarinys Liriano Contreras Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was endowed by generous donations from Dr. Contreras (her widower) and members of her family. Amarinys was a UNO alumna who died after a tragic car accident. We were honored that these members of her family were able to be here to take a picture with her at UNO College of Sciences Honors Day.
