Privateer Plunge takes place the first 6 weeks of classes. We can’t possibly cover all the things you need to know to be a Privateer during orientation. Your transition to college is going to be exciting and challenging. Privateer Plunge will help you navigate the challenges and assist you in taking the plunge into UNO. Privateer Plunge is brought to you by the Division of Student Affairs and the

Office of Admissions. Privateer Plunge offers you an array of fun-filled and educational opportunities to help you understand the resources available to you and to meet other UNO students, faculty and administrators. Your Challenge -

During Privateer Plunge you will be expected to attend at least 12 events, three in each category, within your first six weeks
at UNO. Each category is denoted by a color splash. Academic and Traditions - Blue
Social and Culture - Silver
Health, Wellness, and Personal Development - Red
Community and Service - White

When you attend an event, sign in at the table that has the Privateer Plunge symbol. Once you sign in, your attendance
will be noted and uploaded to our Privateer Plunge
attendance system. Remember, attend at least three events in each category,
a total of 12, by the end of your first six weeks, October 3, 2011. Why Take the Plunge? By taking the plunge you will meet new friends, professors and administrators. You will learn about all the resources and involvement opportunities UNO offers! You will have fun at social activities and successfully transition into the UNO community. You will have a true understanding of Privateer Pride! You will be eligible to win one of many different prize packages once you have completed the 12 events within the appropriate categories. And you will have the fact that you completed Privateer Plunge. You will get good food! On October 12, 2011, a first-year student barbeque will conclude Privateer Plunge, and the winners of the prize packages will be announced. At the barbeque, students who completed the 12 events will have their names put into another drawing to win gift certificates and other prizes. Students who attend the most events overall and who attend the most events in each color splash will also be entered to win prizes. You must be present to win! Prizes include: gift certificates, book vouchers and much more. Privateer Plunge events are open to ALL students, however, only new freshmen and new transfer students are eligible to
