PoliSci students, please see the email below from Char Dae Love-Jones, one of our outstanding graduates from the MPA class of 2009. Potential careers for students and alums!
Hello Dr. Kiefer,
I hope all is well. Long time since c/o 2009.
I wanted to connect with you on outreach engagement I’m trying to build at my agency. Specifically, we are interested in building relationships, where unestablished, with academic institutions to attract top talent to apply for jobs at the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). Our need to attract interested candidates requires us to think more strategically in our marketing and outreach strategies. Rather that is exploring career fairs, networking opportunities, social media, or referrals. What better place to start than with my Alma Mater?
Here’s a little bit about TIGTA. TIGTA is a bureau under the Department of the Treasury; we currently have approximately 730 employees located at both our headquarters office in Washington, D.C. and at over 60 field offices throughout the U.S. TIGTA provides independent oversight of IRS activities by performing audits, investigations, inspections, and evaluations. We are ramping up hiring and looking for top talent in our mission-critical occupations: Auditors; Law Enforcement Agents; Criminal and Forensic Investigators; IT Specialists in Cybersecurity, Information Security, and Data Analytics; Attorneys; Management and Program Analysts; HR Specialists; and Personnel Security Specialists. We have both permanent employment and volunteer opportunities at TIGTA. These occupations translate to students in the following degree programs and/or backgrounds:
Auditing;
Business Administration;
Public Administration;
Finance and Accounting;
Law Enforcement;
Forensics;
Systems Administration;
Applications Software;
Data Management;
Enterprise Architecture;
Network Services;
HR;
Communications;
Appropriations Law; and
Law and Litigation.
Can you connect me with any students you have in these areas (current or past)? We are also in contact with UNO Career Services, but any other program faculty you could connect me would be great. I and members of my team can make ourselves available to discuss more.
Recruit once and hire twice!
V/R,
