We are so excited to continue introducing our Fall 2023 incoming exchange students!

📸1: “Hi everyone! My name is Anna, I am 22 years old, and I am from Austria. I live in a small village near Innsbruck with my parents and my younger brother Manuel. I graduated from school in 2020 and started working for a tax consultant. In Fall 2021, I started university in Innsbruck, and I am very excited for my exchange year now! I would consider myself an outgoing, reliable, and friendly but also fun person. I love sports – especially horse riding, dancing, and playing tennis. In my free time, I meet my friends and we play games and I also like reading books or baking a cake or cupcakes. I am a very spontaneous person, and I am always ready for a new adventure! Can’t wait for all the new things I will experience during my exchange year!😁”

📸2: “Hello! My name is Kuba and I am currently living in Warsaw, Poland. I had the privilege of growing up internationally, with my mom being Polish and my dad Danish as well as living in four different countries. This has allowed me to grow into a global, open-minded person with a deep understanding of different cultures and people. I am excited to continue this learning journey at Tulane University and meeting more incredible people to learn from and thrive with!”

📸3: “My name is Lila, I'm 20, I'm from France but I was born in Reunion island. I lived there for 9 years and then moved to France, Paris exactly, with my family. I like hanging out with my friends a lot, party, go to restaurants and travel a lot.
I'm really looking forward to my exchange of the next semester, as I'm really excited to meet new people, to discover a new city, a new school. ”

📸4: “My name is Darren and I come from Hong Kong.  I am into basketball and hope to watch NBA games in Nola. Anyone who also like basketball can hit me up, we can play together. Besides sports, I am a big fan of music especially rap and my favoirate rapper is Juice Wrld. As a Chinese, I may not be that extroverted, but I look forward to making friends with everyone with different background. Can't wait to see you guys in Tulane!!!”

📸 2: “My name is Christian, I'm 23 years old, from Copenhagen, Denmark. I'm currently studying a Master in Finance & Strategic Management at Copenhagen Business School. My stay at Tulane will be my first time ever in the US, so I'm very excited to experience everything it has to offer. When I'm not at school or work, I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, playing sports and watching soccer.”

📸 3: “My name is Femke Stoffels. I’m a 20 year old student from Belgium. I study business economics at the University of Antwerp. I will be following the exchange program at Freeman Business School in the fall of 2023. I’m active as finance manager in the student association linked to my faculty. I’m a disciplined and organized student which results in good academic grades. I’m looking forward to meet other (international) students and to live the American way of life.”

📸 4: “My name is Marina Iglesias and I am going to study at Tulane for the next two years. I am Spanish and I have always lived in Spain, in Madrid. I live with my parents and my two brothers. I like to listen to music, hang out with friends, learn new things and watch series. I don't like to stand still and I'm always looking for new experiences and exciting things to learn. I am very excited to live in New Orleans and to go to a university like yours.”

We are so excited to introduce some of our Fall 2023 Incoming Exchnage students! Here is a bit about some of them:

📸 1: My name Christine I am a 22 yeard old danish girl living in Copenhagen. I study business administration and project management at Copenhagen Business School. As a person I am social, spontaneous and curious for new adventures. I am looking very much forward to my stay at Tulane where I hope to meet lot’s of new people. 😁

📸 2: My name is Thomas Vetter, I am half Brazilian, half Swiss and have recently turned 21. I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and love anything related to sports and have been playing football for different clubs around Zurich since I was a little kid. Currently I am in my second semester of my studies at the ZHAW in Switzerland, Winterthur. Tulane University seemed the perfect opportunity to combine great academics and reputation with lifetime of experiences.

📸 3: My name is Tea (Yes, it is spelled like the hot drink and I have heard a lot of bad (and funny) jokes over the years, but it is pronounced like Lea but with a 'T'). I am from Denmark, a small country in Northern Europe. Back home, I am studying for a Master's degree in Economics and People and Business Development at Copenhagen Business School. It is my first time in the city and even the state of Louisiana, and I look very much forward to studying at Tulane University, and I cannot wait to experience the vibe that the area is so well-known for.
Outside of class, I love to spend time with my friends and family. I also love to knit or watch Friends (for the 30th time).

📸 4: My name is Daniel. I am a 23 years old guy from Copenhagen, Denmark. I am currently studying a Master of Finance at Copenhagen Business School. I’ve worked for approx. three years in finance at a family-office as an analyst. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going to the gym and watching soccer. It has been my dream to study in the US for many years, so I am really looking forward to get the full college experience this fall.

“It was an important life lesson of never taking anything for granted,” says Katie Latham who was studying at EM Strasbourg in France during the Spring 2020 semester. “I think a lot of people that studied abroad spring semester remember the Wednesday night when it was announced that America was going to close its borders. I woke up to several calls and messages from my family and friends wondering how and when I would be getting home. The following Thursday was a tough day. It was a hectic 24 hours packing up the last three months and saying goodbye to friends.
Even though my time abroad second semester ended up being cut short, I’m incredibly grateful for my time in France. In hindsight, I really took advantage of my time there to meet new people, improve my French, and travel to countries I had always wanted to see.”

Visit our blog to read about students' experiences leaving their host countries early. Elsa Rothenberg, a senior management major who studied in Mexico City writes, "Although it was disappointing that I had to leave due to COVID, I had the opportunity to meet great friends and professors and take interesting classes. I hope to go back to visit and will always look back on my time in Mexico fondly." http://freemanblog.tulane.edu/2020/07/28/coronavirus-stories-reflecting-on-an-unexpected-semester-abroad/

As uncertainty persists, students who planned to study abroad may be experiencing doubts about their future options. Angela Dueppen, who was one of the first students to return to the U.S. after the coronavirus hit Milan where she was located, shares: "Although the disappointment of missing out on the majority of my semester abroad was heavy, I would not trade what I gained in the month I had for anything." Read more about navigating study abroad during the coronavirus pandemic on our blog at http://freemanblog.tulane.edu/2020/07/28/coronavirus-stories-reflecting-on-an-unexpected-semester-abroad/! Hopefully our students' experiences will provide reassurance as we navigate the unknown.

Senior Caroline Flynn reflects on her semester during the COVID-19 crisis: "Looking back, [Madrid] was the perfect place to spend a shorter amount of time, because I was able to see so much of the country so quickly. As cliché as it sounds, my whole experience taught me to really appreciate the present moment, rather than constantly looking ahead. " To read the rest of Caroline's thoughts on her shortened semester in Madrid check out the latest post on our blog at http://freemanblog.tulane.edu/2020/07/28/coronavirus-stories-reflecting-on-an-unexpected-semester-abroad/
