We are STILL GOING STRONG, but we do need your support! Showing up, being visible with extended support is one thing we can ask of that requires nothing of you, but your time. The same time that is often usurped by the demands of work... you can give freely while you are entertained with thought provoking material.

"The Adding Machine", by Elmer Rice, directed by Jonathan Greene tells the story of Mr. Zero, a monotonous office worker who is replaced by a machine after 25 years of service. In a moment of rage, he murders his boss and is put on trial, exposing the dehumanizing effects of industrialization. After his ex*****on, he journeys through the afterlife, where even death offers no real escape from repetitive existence. The play critiques a society that reduces people to numbers and functions. Ultimately, it suggests that blind conformity traps individuals in endless cycles, even beyond life.

"The Adding Machine" is our final main stage production of the 2025-26 Theatre UNO Season...let's pack the house and show how important Theatre UNO is to this community and remind the powers that be that some people are simply irreplaceable and not so quick to conform.

Irony or foreshadowing?...
..Either way... please come out and actively support Theatre UNO by showing up for the stage reading of the original play, "Diggin' You", written by our very own, Kalimah Williams and directed by Jyna N. Roots.

This fourth reading closes out the 2026 Scripts Unbound Season and features UNO Alum Justin William Davis and KC Simms along with an outstanding cast of current UNO Theatre students, Margan Causey (most recently seen as RIN in Baby Love), Angelina Smock, Amani Veals, and Julian Blazer. Just like the three before, promises to not disappoint...

Folks want to know how they can support....Keep showing up! Your presence goes a long way!

Reserve your seats by scanning the QR code or via the google forms link below. See you soon!

Thank you to the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival of New Orleans! The University of New Orleans Theatre Department is proud to honor our long standing relationship and thrilled to have participated in the 40th Festival.

Under the leadership of Diane Baas and in collaboration with festival artists, UNO Theatre presented a staged reading of Ellipse: A Comet Play by Whitney Rowland, directed by Jyna Roots, featuring Nicoye Banks and UNO's Margan Causey.

A testament to the power, rigor, and relevance of the work being created within our program. This moment is more than a performance—it is a reflection of what this department makes possible: bold storytelling, student opportunity, and meaningful artistic contribution to the cultural life of New Orleans.

We invite you to witness, support, and stand with us. Please follow us so you stay looped in on all of the details on upcoming events, like our next (and last of the season), main stage production of "The Adding Machine", written by Elmer Rice & directed by Jonathan Greene, with a preview on April 16th.
