From Monday, August 17 – Thursday, August 20, 2015, through ENGAGE NOLA, incoming Tulane freshmen will embark on getting to know Tulane and New Orleans, with a hand-picked group of upperclassmen guides. Through the program, participants will get a great feel for neighborhoods and city leaders from throughout New Orleans; develop a strong understanding of Tulane’s campus and Jewish life in NOLA; and get a taste of Hillel’s many leadership and social programs run year-round. It serves as a great opportunity to come to school a few days early to begin to establish your new NOLA roots!!

(E)xplore off-the-beaten-path & up-and-coming Uptown, Bywater, Marigny and French Quarter commercial & residential communities, cultural activities, restaurants and sights.
(N)etwork with New Orleans business & community leaders engaged in community-impacting work in the legal, public education, real estate, economic development, post-Katrina urban planning, political and other arenas.
(G)o out & about throughout the city, from historic Preservation Hall to the 9th Ward, doing activities that will include music & NOLA nightlife events, city exploration, and other larger-group activities with other EXPLORE groups.
(A)ccelerate your connections with student leaders who are involved with Hillel and on- and off-campus NOLA community building through the many initiatives we offer; ranging from community gardens to open mic nights, Hillel’s farmer’s/arts market, Shabbat dinners and campus-wide social events.
(G)et a hands-on view of life on Tulane’s campus and good feel for the campus layout, through in-depth exploration of the campus & its amenities as well as the surrounding neighborhood.
(E)xperience some of the various activities that Hillel offers including yoga, krav maga (Israeli martial arts), and challah baking.
