Our last favorite bookstore is located in the Marigny! The Marigny is the place to be if you love art. Walk around the neighborhood, stop by Studio Be and then head over to Frenchmen Art & Books. This funky independent bookstore offers a large selection of new & used titles, plus art prints.

Frenchmen Art & Books has been an independently owned and operated bookstore in the same location since 1978.

Who doesn't love going to the French Quarter and walking around Pirate's Alley looking at all the amazing artwork? Because we sure do. After taking a stroll around, we like to go to Faulkner House Books to pick up a great book and then sit in Jackson Square and read for a little bit. 📚

Faulkner House Books is located in the heart of New Orleans’ beautiful and historic French Quarter, just off Jackson Square, behind the Cabildo and opposite St. Louis Cathedral’s rear garden. Founded in 1988 by attorney Joseph J. DeSalvo Jr. and his wife Rosemary James, Faulkner House Books is a sanctuary for fine literature and rare editions, including, of course, books by and about Mr. Faulkner. Frequently featured in the national news media, Faulkner House Books has been described by both collectors and writers as America’s most charming book store.

The Community Book Center is one of our absolute favorite places to be because it lives up to its name. It’s a community built within a community of beautiful individuals that love to educate and promote reading. It feels like home. 🏠💙

Available to schools, churches, community events for storytelling, book clubs, performance venue, meeting space and book fairs. For more nearly forty years CBC has been on the the oldest Black bookstore in the New Orleans area.

Tubby & Coo's Mid-City Book Shop is your home away from home. A place where you'll always feel welcomed and you'll meet some pretty cool people inside to bond over books with. PS: Do you remember when Tubby & Coo's was housed right next to the Bean Gallery? Because we do! 💚

Tubby & Coo’s is a local q***r-owned, progressive, nerdy, independent book shop in Mid-City New Orleans focused on science fiction and fantasy, q***r, and diverse books. The shop is named after the owner’s grandparents, Tubby & Coo, who grew up in the same neighborhood where the shop is located.

They believe in creating change through building community, promoting literacy, and demanding social justice. They also ensure our community has access to stories that reflect diverse experiences. Tubby & Coo's envision a future where everyone is empowered, able, and encouraged to tell their own stories, regardless of social class, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, race, age, or culture. Every voice deserves to be heard, and we work to build a world where all voices are equally important.

One of our favorite days is when Baldwin & Co. opened its door to us in February. We waited in line and watched the doors open to the community and it continues to open its doors to anyone that wants to stop by. For students coming back, it's a great place to study (or read a book) while sipping on a killer iced latte.

Baldwin & Co. is an independent bookstore located on Elysian Fields. Inside, books on mystery, business, history, art, travel, children’s literature and more fill the floor to ceiling shelves. In addition to books, the bookshop offers high quality coffee, tea and fresh pastries. Baldwin & Co., named after the writer and activist James Baldwin, has a mission built on community outreach, education and what Johnson calls the “growth mindset".

What's living in New Orleans without taking a streetcar to the French Quarter and adventuring through our historic city? Beckham's Bookshop is one of our favorite historic boostores in the city and you can always stroll in with some beignets from Cafe du Monde or with your pet, and you'd always be welcome.

The Garden District Book Shop is one of our absolute favorite places to walk to from campus when it's sunny outside. Take a camera on your walk, snap some photos of the beautiful neighborhood and then enjoy walking through stacks of books until you find the one you can't let go.

The Garden District Book Shop is located inside the historic property known as the Rink which sits at the corner of Washington Avenue and Prytania Street in New Orleans' Garden District. The bookshop carries a large collection of regional titles, both new and used, and signed first editions and limited editions by many regionally and nationally acclaimed authors. Among these really cool editions, you can find any book that fits in your interest.

Take the time to adventure to one of these once you're back and fall in love with them just as we have. We've read and bought some pretty good reads from each of these, but have met even more amazing people in them.
