From the ground up, a campus reaches for the cosmos.

The John R. Kirk Planetarium has brought the wonders of space to SUNY New Paltz students and the Hudson Valley community for decades. In the cover story of the 2026 New Paltz Magazine, read how a professor’s vision grew into a thriving center for astronomy, where students learn to present their own shows, alumni reconnect with the night sky and thousands of visitors find a little wonder in the universe.

“It’s an intimate place where people from all backgrounds can explore the wonders of the Universe in a fun, welcoming setting,” said Raj Pandya, director of the Planetarium.
