On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice calls us to live with purpose and integrity, reflecting the highest ideals of our beloved fraternity.

As members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., we are especially mindful that Omega Men have answered the call to duty in every era of our nation’s history - serving with distinction across all branches of the armed forces.

Today, we honor not only their bravery, but also the enduring sacrifices of their families, whose strength and support have sustained generations of service.

We reaffirm our commitment to Manhood, walking with honor and responsibility; to Scholarship, pursuing knowledge and wisdom; to Perseverance, standing resilient in the face of adversity; and to Uplift, serving and strengthening our communities and the nation.

Guided by our cardinal principals, we recommit ourselves to living in a manner worthy of their sacrifice - leading with character, pursuing knowledge, standing resilient in adversity, and lifting up our communities. Let’s keep their sacrifice and duty to our nation alive in our daily walk.

Let this day of remembrance inspire us to honor the fallen through action, service, and unwavering dedication to the ideals we share.

Please pause for a moment of silence in remembrance of their ultimate sacrifice; say a prayer for their loved ones left behind to help ease their pain; and honor the fallen not only in remembrance, but through action - living out our principles each day and striving to be worthy of their sacrifice.

Fraternally, Ricky L. Lewis 42nd Grand Basileus of

Brothers of the Mighty Second District and Friends of Omega,

On this Memorial Day, we pause. Not simply out of tradition, but out of obligation. To remember. To honor. To never allow the sacrifice of those who gave everything to be reduced to a passing moment.

Since our founding in 1911, Omega men have answered every call this nation has sounded. Our Brothers marched into every theater of war, from the trenches of World War I to the beaches of Normandy, from the hills of Korea to the jungles of Vietnam, from the deserts of the Middle East to the mountains of Afghanistan. They fought for the freedom of a nation that did not always fully extend that freedom to them, and they did it anyway. Because that is the character of an Omega man.

But this day belongs to more than our Brotherhood alone. Today we lift up every man and woman, of every background, every branch, every generation, who put on the uniform of this nation and made the decision that some things are worth dying for. They are the reason we are free. They are the reason we can gather, speak, worship, vote, and lead. We owe them a debt that can never be fully repaid, only honored.

And we must not forget those who are carrying this day differently. To the mother who lost her son. The wife who lost her husband. The child who grew up without a parent who never came home. The friend who still keeps a photograph on the mantle. Grief does not follow a calendar, and for many families, Memorial Day is not a holiday. It is a reminder of what was taken from them. To every grieving heart today, we see you. We stand with you. And we honor the one you lost by remembering them not just today, but always.

To every Brother in this District who wears or has worn the uniform, we salute you. Your service is not lost on us. Your sacrifice is woven into the fabric of everything we enjoy as free men and women in this country.

Let us be worthy of what was given on our behalf. Let us live with the purpose and courage that would make our fallen proud.

Rest in Power to every soul who answered the highest call and let us always remember that Friendship is Essential to the Soul!

Lifting As We Climb,

Leon M. Smith II

Redefining Brain Health Conversations in Our Communities: In this conversation, Dr. Christopher Allen, Neurologist and founder of Sleep Doctor Chris ‪‬, sits down with Ricky Lewis, Grand Basileus of ‪‬ Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to discuss the importance of brain health, early conversations about memory and thinking changes, and the role community leaders and organizations and healthcare professionals play in supporting families and the communities they serve.

Community leaders and healthcare professionals serve as trusted voices.

Together, they can help bring important health knowledge into trusted community conversations—encouraging earlier conversations, reducing stigma, and helping people feel more comfortable seeking evaluation and care.By 2030, nearly 40% of individuals living with Alzheimer’s will be Black or Latino, making brain health education and awareness more important than ever.Watch, reflect, and share this conversation to help move our communities from silence to support.
